Wink Saleens arch enemy... BOLT ONS =P

Hey guys i bought a LS1 out of a 99 corvette which had aftermarket 1.85 roller rockers put in it and had it put in my 98 Z.. well theres always some saleen or mach 1 that can stick their nose out past mine and quite frankly its pissing me off so what are some good bolt ons that i should invest my money in? i was considering a 92mm TB and slp lid but i dont know what differences that will make so if you have any experiences with any bolt ons let me know what kind of differences it made in hp/torque and price ball park and things like that! Thanks guys! (im really becoming fond of LS1TECH)

I don't know if you have headers or not yet but that would be my first buy. Headers with a y-pipe will give these cars a solid 25-30rwhp. That should easily get your nose out infront of the saleen.

The 92mm TB won't fit on the stock intake, you have to have a 92mm intake to match it.

thanks man! and i was looking at headers and Y pipes but sure which would be my best bet.. KT hooker headers? and installing this doesnt require pulling the engine correct? (it was a *hot* b!tch to get in because of the tight fit)

why did you replace the engine? old one give out?

headers, exhaust, ls6 intake, air lid, and a mail order tune would be a great start

agreed, if you are an auto a 3600 stall should be first on your mod list...that and some good tires because you will need them

If the car is bone stock I would do a catback like magnaflow, LM1, hooker ect. and then American Racing 1-3/4 header catted system. It's expensive but it will be the last set of headers you will need for the car. Also for relatively cheap do a lid, ported stock throttle body, ls6 manifold since it's a '99 and fernco with the free air mod.

Total cost should be around $2000 with smart shoping but with those 1.85 rockers it should be around 50-55 more hp than it sits now.

No need to pull the motor to get them in, once you get the stock manifolds out its really not too bad to get the new ones in. Just remove the starter and make sure the car is high enough up off the ground. As far as brand goes, you can go Hooker, Pace Setter, or Kooks and pick up the same amount of power. Just differs on price by what they are made out of.

Thanks man my mechanic said i probably would have to take the engine out so how do you take the stock headers off without pulling the block?

and i just met one on the street and he took off and then i did and we went till about 120 (starting out at about 60) and he just kept a nose ahead of me It looked like a 04-06... i just beat a WS6 with 3.96 gears by about 2 car lengths i love my drag radials lol!

Thunder the previous owner i guess locked it up and it wasnt salvageable so i got this motor.

Thanks to all! ..my wishlist is a intake, throttle body, slp lid,Hooker headers,Y pipe, magnaflow, stall, hypertech tune. so if anyone knows anybody thats selling these bolt ons or other parts just let me know, it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks again guys

This is good advice, I used pacesetters,no need to remove the starter, slips right in. Huge gain over manifolds!

Cheap and convertor should be mutually exclusive.... Get a Yank, FTI, Circle D, Vig etc.... Never buy a bdget vertor because it will end costing you more in the long run.... I bet nobody on here will dispute this statement.... Yank SS3600 here BTW....

Yea, the converter isn't an area to skimp out, a yank is about $700, if you go that route get at least a ss3200 and maybe a ss3600, I wouldn't think a 4000 stall would be any good for a true DD.
