No. It wasn't the usual sewwing machine. It was a clicking or chatter. It started up really bad and loud.

Did you leave it running at about 2000 rpm for a few minutes....maybe your lifters needed to pump up?
My 5.0 was famous for this trick!!

I think the push rods are too long possibly. and the lifters may have collapsed. I'm not sure.

casey,

great soundclip man. the TR230 definitely has some sick lope to it. I also am waiting to see your numbers man. It would be great to see how much power is made with a reverse split and some heads.

Thanks guys! please keep the comments coming. I'm taking it to an exhaust shop for some finishing touches.
Here are some more pictures of the build as well!

Except for the oil pump and the oil pump pick up tube I was surprised how easy the top end of these motors are to work on. There were fewer wires than the LT1 cars I have worked on in the past. I have no experience with the bottom end of an LS engine.

Yeah, it was relatively easy for a newb, like me.

Sounds good OP.

I popped my LS cherry with my H/C/I/E swap.

OP,

What changes are you having done at the exhaust shop?

No changes. Just having them weld a new o2 bung on the driver side..it got stripped..and having them make my CME tips PERFECT. They're a few cm's off and little low for my taste

Also I might mention at first I had some real trouble getting oil pressure upon first start up. I didn't have time to work on it because I had to go to work but mike hooked the battery up to a charger and cranked it like crazy and it still didn't build up. So he startedd it and within a couple second it jumped right up to 60. oil pressure is great now.

And I chose 7.4 push rods because texas speed says they have been usuing 7.425 lately along with others. Pat G recommended 7.425 with stock heads and I'm milled .020

Valve train sewwing machine noise is very very minimal.

What muffler do you have? Sounds great with the cam. Any drone/resonance?

Just a FYI for the OP ... you did not have to unhook your AC compressor to do a heads/cam swap.

I have SLP D/D muffler but the second video is just cut out opened. I haven't had it higher than 2500 or so since it's not tuned I don't want it to go lean..

I know I didn't have to take out the AC condenser, I just chose to so I would have more room to work with. It's not hard to just fill it back up.
