Need help please alternative to jpr lifter holder

Default Need help please alternative to jpr lifter holder

Alright I've got evrything apart and ready to pull the cam I don't have magnets or thunders lifter tool has any one used anything else to hold the lifters up I've got some small tube in rite now but scared it's to small and thay will sneak around any advise is appreciated thanks

What I was thinkin thanks for the reply question for ya even when I put them in the lifters will still ride up and down on the cam rite until I pull it then they catch on the dowl rod?? Thanks man been up all weekend getn tired!

i used some round metal stock dont remember the length, but they worked great and you dont have to worry about them breaking inside the engine like you would with the wooden ones.

you spin the cam by hand quickly, then while the lifters are up in their lifter trays/holders you slide in the dowell rods..
I prefer the metal ones...

5/16" and you have to shave off a little bit on one side of them to flatten it out ever so slightly
use a grinder or a dremel or whatever you have available.

Thanks guys as long as there's some kind of rod in there thay can't fall rite the dowl I have is to big but I am thinkin like the metal poles u use to clean the barrel of a rifle those rods how much does thickness matter?? Thanks

buy it at any home depot or lowes
flatten off one side of the rod

that is you exact solution

Sweet alright got the dowls and I can still here a lifter movin on driverside in the back I can here it when I spin the cam could one still be free I can feel it on the cam lobe when I move it back and fourth did it miss one or that normal sorry guys tryin to get done legs are rippin

As long as there in and all the wat to the back plate I should be good write? Is it possible for one to get under the dowl?

you better make sure they are all the way in! i had to grind mine down further for the passenger side to go in all the way. It was like a few inches further out than the drivers side dowel and thats how i knew the pass side wasnt all the way in
