I have no, I mean no experience of putting a motor together much less putting a cam in any car but I did it. Granted I took my time and studied up on it before tackling this project. All in the end I got it done and the car is running good.

To tell you the truth, you can put this cam by yourself if you have the space and time to do it.

The labor wont be cheap if your not doing it yourself. Its not how 'hard' the job is, its mostly the time b/c swapping the springs its very time consuming.
Since its a DD, I would recommend something like a 224 duration cam and a 228 at the max.
Your going to need to swap springs and pushrods with any camshaft swap. Since you have a stick, better start saving up for an aftermarket clutch as well.

consider a TSP cam pkg,224r/228r at 112*lsa.or a tr224 at 112*lsa.I've heard $700-900 for install labor.go to ls1howto.com and see if you and a friend mite do the install.you will need a tune up for the new cam.
