Cam Gurus, willing to spec me a cam? will be ordering one this coming week!
Any of the cam gurus want to spec me out a cam? you guys can all pm me if needed. I will be ordering a cam next week.
Looking to make 400+ cam only. currently on 853 heads, but will be upgrading to ls6 later on in the spring. right now i'm currently a full bolt on car, making 356hp/368tq. will also be spraying a 100 shot along with this cam. This car is a DD and i would like to keep the stock 3.42 if possible, if not i can change my gears.
I wouldve bought an off the shelf cam, but for what im gonna be paying why not just get a custom spec'd one?
I currently have a 224/230 581/592 114 lsa. (not in the car, just sitting in my room) Im not sure if the current cam will be enough to get me to 400rwhp+ or not.
thanks for taking the time to read this,
Lee

If you want to hit 400+rwhp, I have ported 241's in the for sale section for $500 that should make around 410rwhp with that cam. Or I would wait till you upgrade to the LS6 manifold and get a regular split cam instead of a reverse split. No need for a crazy split though, something like a 228/232 should pull real hard all through the rpm range and still brek 400rwhp.

yes. IMO if you want more power up top, you should go with something more in the 23x/23x range, but you're gonna need an intake to take advantage of it.
BUT...

these do alright in the 6500 rpm range.
if you're looking for something with more power up stairs, then your combo is gonna need to match it.

X2 on contacting Pat G or someone on a custom cam as I am far from the cam expert. I personally would go with a low 23X high 23X if its a big stall/real low gear 6 spd. if not go with high 22X low 23X for small stall, high gear 6 spd. 110-113 lsa no greater than 630 lift. I am definetly not the cam expert, but I have always read if u are spraying less than 200, spec the cam for n/a and enjoy the spray relsults.
