Default Cam Gurus, willing to spec me a cam? will be ordering one this coming week!

Any of the cam gurus want to spec me out a cam? you guys can all pm me if needed. I will be ordering a cam next week.

Looking to make 400+ cam only. currently on 853 heads, but will be upgrading to ls6 later on in the spring. right now i'm currently a full bolt on car, making 356hp/368tq. will also be spraying a 100 shot along with this cam. This car is a DD and i would like to keep the stock 3.42 if possible, if not i can change my gears.

I wouldve bought an off the shelf cam, but for what im gonna be paying why not just get a custom spec'd one?

I currently have a 224/230 581/592 114 lsa. (not in the car, just sitting in my room) Im not sure if the current cam will be enough to get me to 400rwhp+ or not.

thanks for taking the time to read this,

Lee

Patrick G is a popular choice for a custom cam and a great choice from what I have seen. Also I am sure most of the sponsers will be able to help you out.

that cam will make 400whp no problem, be drivable, and go well with your gears.

is it possible to "max out" this cam with 243 heads and 100 shot?

whats wrong with the cam you have now? with stock 243s + 100 shot youre looking at 500rwhp+

I'm guessing youll make with 380-390rwhp with the cam only.

Nothing is wrong with it, Im just afraid this cam will die up top. since this is a street car i would like to to pull hard all throught out the powerband. not just down low, and not just up top.

(not knowledgeable on cams)

If you want to hit 400+rwhp, I have ported 241's in the for sale section for $500 that should make around 410rwhp with that cam. Or I would wait till you upgrade to the LS6 manifold and get a regular split cam instead of a reverse split. No need for a crazy split though, something like a 228/232 should pull real hard all through the rpm range and still brek 400rwhp.

that cam should make great power for a street car.....
and you plan on running stock 243s?

Do you think ppl that run smaller ex: 224/224 cams end up just losing power on the top end?

yes. IMO if you want more power up top, you should go with something more in the 23x/23x range, but you're gonna need an intake to take advantage of it.

BUT...

https://ls1tech.com/forums/dynamomet...ta-inside.html

these do alright in the 6500 rpm range.

if you're looking for something with more power up stairs, then your combo is gonna need to match it.

My 224 cam and unported 243's pulled to 6800 rpm no problem. Put down 444 rwhp and not to mention more torque under the curve than most setups too

That is true, I keep up with the threads that you post about your car. But i bet you just have a freak car!

I have an ls6 intake and 85mm TB.

Does anybody know who the sponsor for eps is?

EPS is a their own sponsor on this site. I don't think my car's a freak it only made 340 rwhp 340 rwtq with bolt ons. It's all about the right combination of compression, flow, intake, exhaust and valve timing events.

Get with Pat G. He did my cam and it made a nice improvement over the other two i had. Look at the site and see all the cams he's done.

X2 on contacting Pat G or someone on a custom cam as I am far from the cam expert. I personally would go with a low 23X high 23X if its a big stall/real low gear 6 spd. if not go with high 22X low 23X for small stall, high gear 6 spd. 110-113 lsa no greater than 630 lift. I am definetly not the cam expert, but I have always read if u are spraying less than 200, spec the cam for n/a and enjoy the spray relsults.
