sounds like it, put a long screw driver to your ear & against the block where you believe the sounds coming from, ie stethoscope, you should be able to pin point where it's at.

Yea they are stock pushrods. I did a fly cut on the pistons because when I did clearance check it didn't pass, but it definitely does now.
I did notice that the noise did not become as clear until it came up to temp.

Head was not milled. So what is this sound then? I have not rev'ed up the engine past 2k rpm, only took it down the street and back once.
Hardened may be what I will need but it doesn't explain the sound that is current.
Has anyone used this cam before? or had a similar experience? bad lifters or wrong length pushrods?

Ok new info. I pulled the passenger side valve cover off and no marks on the cover itself. But the #8 cylinder exhaust rocker arm bolt was not tight. It had slack in it and i could unscrew it with my fingers.
Going to figure out tdc, rotate 360, and tighten it back down.
Must have missed it I guess

I am not sure why you had to flycut with that cam? Sounds ok to me you always get extra valvetrain noise after a cam. Get pushrods asap hit the limiter and yours will bend with a quickness

Thats correct I didn't locktite the exhaust bolts, the haines manual didn't say to do so. I did locktite the intake rocker bolts because the boss was shaved off and was open to the intake port. The recommendation I recieved was to locktite those just to prevent the oil from leaking into the intake port.
Should I have locktite all of them?

I wasn't expecting to have to flycut them but when i did the clearance check the exhaust ports were almost touching and the intake were very much touching. That was after degreeing the cam in as well, which this particular cam was 2 degree retarded than what the profile specified.
