issues..where to start, heads or oil pan?

issues..where to start, heads or oil pan?

ticking noise started...maybe even a knocking noise. Didnt last long enough for me to know. Parked the car until someone more experienced cuold hear it. Sounded like a possible broken rocker. Took off the covers, everything looked good. out it back, took it for a ride (slowly). 200 yarda later somethin let go. Very much so DIDNT sound like a rod bearing. Again we suspected a rocker. took it apart, pulled the rockers off..all is perfect up top. So, now...next step is pull the heads, or pull the oil pan. Whatcha think?

does it sound like its coming from the top of the motor or the bottom. mine started to tick, always does it. took apart the entire valve train and checked it all. still performs great. still dynos great. maby a lifter, possible broken lobe on the cam on the side where it goes down quick, maby in the oil pump.
what does your oil pressure look like.

take those heads off,to see if there is a valve hitting a piston.I see you have the g5x3 were the pistons flycut? If they were not i believe this may be your problem.

We're not talking about the car with the G5X3 cam.....the car in question has an LS6 cam and stock heads....the guy with the LS6 cam is using the guy (with the G5X3) account to post a question.

The pistons from what I understand are fine.
