Default 12:1 Compression in LQ9

Has/is anyone run 12:1 in a LQ9? Is it possible. I know -3 dish pistons yeild a low to mid 11 with the 71cc compustion chamber. I guess the quesion is, is it ok to put a +5 dome piston in a LQ9 with the 317 heads?

We get up to 91 here.

I think you're going to have issues with that much compression on 91 octane fuel. I have to let those more experienced step in here.

Thanks for the input, I am aware that if I do go that high I will need to buy stock in octane booser !!!

if you could get 93, it might be a different story. everyone i talked to said 12:1 will be fine with the correct (read perfect) tune on 93. and if i really wanna go wild with the timing, i got a good supply line on VP MS109.

Thats what I was thinking, 93 is VERY doable. Not quite ready for the race fuel however LOL!!!!

may be a little safer to go with 11.75:1 not gonna be a huge power difference and will be a little bit more forgiving if you have a lean spike or a timing issue.
