Default TFS 220 as cast heads question.

Anyone running TFS 220 as cast heads having an oil burning problem?? There is some smoke at start up, but a lot while down shifting after the motor gets warm. Didn't really notice until I took the car road racing and while down shifting going in to the turns the car starting blowing oil smoke. I installed an oil catch can between the PCV and the intake and that helped a little but still a lot of smoke down shifting.
1. do the rocker arm bolts go into the ports on these heads.
2. would just a value seal smoke that bad.
3. how would i tell if the valve guides where the wrong size and sucking oil with out pulling the heads?
If anyone has had this problem please enlighten me. I had these heads installed at a shop and he doesn't believe the rocker bolts go into the ports on these heads. He thinks it's the valve seals. I have put around 500 miles on the heads, cam & intake install since June.

Did you buy the heads assembled? I'm pretty sure the rockers bolt go into the intake port

Yes, the heads came from Trick Flow assembled.

mite be a bad valve seal or some oil in your intake ,from before your catch can install.alot of oil can acumalate in a ls intake.

What he means by assembled is your rocker arms. Sounds like you don't have any thread sealant on the intake valve rocker bolts. Pull them out, seal them up god, and report back how the engine runs. hopefully it is that simple

That is the plan. Trick flow is also sending new valve seals. So I hope that works. I have noticed oil on the back side of the throttle body blade. Even after I installed the catch can, not as bad but still there.

I'll report what the results are as soon as I can get the work done.

It was the rocker bolts. No sealant was applied to them. Now everything is better. There is still a little smoke, but nowhere near as bad as before.

Thanks for the help!

Every aftermarket LS head, or CNC ported stock head that I know of, has the rocker bolts going into the intake ports. It doesn't take a lot of effort to look into the rocker bolt hole or intake port to see this.
