Default Question about LQ9 Accessories

I just picked up an lq9 shortblock and i need head gaskets and head bolts, and crank bolt. are these all the same as the ls1? i dont think the head gaskets will be the same, i want to pick up a set of GM MLS gaskets. i believe the bore is diferent but i need to make sure.

Also, is there anything else i need to pick up to make the swap successful?

Thanks

The head gaskets depend on the heads you will be using. I'm using 243's on my LQ4 so I'm using the LS2 head gaskets. I do beleive however, they are the same for LQ4 and LQ9 still. The other gaskets and head bolts I'm pretty sure are the same. I pulled a couple bolts out of my head just to make sure it had the two smaller bolts on each head, so it had the first design set of head bolts. The 2nd design has 5 shorties and 10 longs.

im using the 5.3L 862 casting heads from my ls1 block. So i may have this backwards, are the head gaskets dependent on the heads or on the block?

Are these the correct head gaskets?

the head gaskets are dependant on the bore of the block. however, you might want to rethink the 5.3 heads on a 6.0. your compression is going to be pretty high.

the LQ9 is already 10:1, with 72cc heads. now your going down to 63ish CC's.

I think the 5.3/5.7 head gaskets are the same, but I know the 6.0 is different because of the bigger bore. The bolts are the same.

the 5.3 has a smaller bore (3.780) than the 5.7 (3.898) so the head gaskets probably arent the same.

One should use gasket to fit the bigger bore whether it is block or head. In your case 6.0 gaskets.

Headgaskets match the bore so your LQ9 requires 6.0 gaskets. FWIW, GM did not make 4.8/5.3 gaskets, they used the larger 5.7 gaskets on the smaller bores anyways
