Best Maggie Cam?
Anyhow, I am looking at either the LS9 or TR Cheater V3 cam at the moment:
LS9 - 211/230 .558/.552 122.5 LSA
V-3 - 219/230 .607/.604 117 LSA
For Comparison: LS6 - 204/218 .551/.555 117.5 LSA
It has been suggested that the LS9 is too close to the LS6 cam to provide much benefit, however this was from someone trying to sell me a GT-11 cam.
If there is anything better suited, please advise...I cannot find much more on Maggie cams other than the two I already have listed.
Thanks in advance!
When I am ready for a cam I am going to have Ed Curtis spec me out a cam for my goals and mods for a matched set up...
Both of those cams will show nice gains i would get the v3.
You also might want to consider adding ported 317 6.0l truck heads so they will lower the compression and allow you to run more boost and they flow the same as your 243's.
Have you looked into meth and maybe a smaller pulley for your charger?
That is why I was looking to a cam and ported stock 243's for a little more power...and I was going to install the take out LS6 in my 5.3 Silverado.
Add a bit of overlap for power and voila.
Like a 224/230 .581/.592 113+4 LSA

Example maggies fail in upper rpm range so pick a cam that supports upper rpm to help carry the power curve further. Centi's would be the exact opposite. I hope the OP does not feel like i'm trying to hijack his thread. I never hear about maggie ls1 cam grinds. I just thought that I could share some information that I read to help out the OP and to get Predator's veiw. Always value information coming from Predator. Good luck OP and keep us updated with your build and what cam you picked.

The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
Anyhow, from everything I could find by searching until this point has been recommendations for exhaust biased high LSA cams with Maggie's to prevent the boost from bleeding off through overlap. However, if I am not mistaken a high LSA will bring the power band of the cam into the upper RPM ranges outside of the Maggie's effective range unless the cam is advanced.
Here is my question, if you loosen up the LSA (to a 114 - 116 range) can you run less of an exhaust bias since the boosted incoming charge will promote exhaust scavenging?
Another thought is that I wanted to keep a mostly smooth idle since I will have to sit in DC beltway traffic from time to time, I don't mind a little chop though. That said, I thought anything below a 115 LSA would noticeable "rump" at idle while bringing the effective range lower into the RPM band. How would a 113 LSA cam idle? Will 4* advance make an improvement in the idle quality?
The Cam Motion cams looked ok, I would say that these two were marginally in the area of Predetors reccomendation:
222'/232', .595"/.578", 116'+4' on 112* CL (Cam Motion)
220'/230', .586"/.569", 116'+4' on 112* CL (Cam Motion)
And I found this one from LG Motorsports that more closely matches the recommended:
G5X1 228'/232', .588"/.574", 112' or 114' LSA
Any thoughts or suggestions on any of these? Thanks again for all of your assistance and shared knowledge.
The cam I recomended has 1* overlap, hardly too much and very streetable (DD).
My C6 LS2 had 317 heads (stage 1) and a cam with 4* overlap. 578rwhp with a Maggie
Thanks again!
Plenty of other info in my sig.
