Default heads

So I have a set of 243 heads now (not on the car). My builder is pushing me towards an upgrade. Should I look at the 5.3 stage 2.5 or stage 1 ls6 heads. It will me matched with a torquer 2 cam.

I don't have your answer, but you may want to give more information.
What level are you shooting for, what type of racing (if any) and what weight of vehicle all seem pertinent.

agreed depending on your goal cant really help much

but i am doing that same head/cam build. (as for machining i am only getting them milled.) Getting them leak checked and checked for cracks to. Hoping with supporting mods it will bring me right up to 400hp for a dd.

sorry for the lack of info. it is just a weekend cruiser. i get to drive it maybe once a month. will have zero track time. i am not looking for the fastest car around just something to have fun with. my builder just said he has seen it a thousand times, so we should just get heads to start with. a4 c5 will have a torquer 2 and a 3200 stall.

Any down side to the 5.3 heads? The flow numbers actually seem to be the same if not better than the stage 1 ls6 heads.

I've seen average 420 430 ish range with the 5.3 heads with tsp cams. But if you have 243's already.. Why not send them off to get ported and polished ? T.e.a does black magic on there sent in ported heads I would check them out and I've seen A.I do wonders on 241's

With their larger valves, they do actually outflow and perform the Stage 2 LS6's. But, as someone said, since you have stock 243's already you could send those to us to have us port them and save some money and get better performance!

No, I'm sorry...I meant Stage 1 LS6's...I'd prefer the Stage 2.5 LS6's over the Stage 2.5 5.3L heads. Sorry for the confusion!

$899.99 for the CNC porting and valve-job. Then you have the options for valves and spring towards the bottom of the page
