Default 2000 z28 cam help

Hey I have a 2000 z28 Camaro , as of now I have multiple mods done to it , I have , SLP cold air intake, slp smoothe bore bellows, vported the throttle body, 160 thermastat, pace setter long tube headers, texas speed duel cat y-pipe, magnaflow cat back exhaust, removed extra egr tube hanging down into the throttle body mouth, went fom 3:42 gears in the rear to 4:10, and a diablo sport predator programmer . I'm wondering what cam I should run in it, and anything else I'll need to do it right . I want a nice aggressive idle and power low-high rpm .

You'll also need springs, push rods, oil pump, timing chain to do it right.

Power low-high rpm...? gonna need more than that....

If you are looking for an aggressive street cam I would recommend you look at the torquer v.3. That cam has an agressive idle because of the LSA but it has a broad powerband because it doesn't have a ton of duration to it. We have a number of customers running around with that cam in thier DDs with no issues.

We don't have a kit that includes all of that. Our cam packages include the cam, pushrods, and valvesprings priced at $690 for that cam. You can get the ported oil pumps for 170, and the timing chains range from $42 to $110.

My father has his own shop and tools that we work on all cars , would it be difficult to do the cam and all the other components ?

I don't think cam installs are very difficult as long as you have some mechanical experience. There is a great write up on LS1howto.com on the cam installs which I would read before doing the work. Everything can be done with the motor in the car, just make sure you find a way to support the lifters when pulling the cam out.

^^i've never done a cam, but have read this (ls1howto) write-up several times and i'm confident i could slap one in as well as upgrade the oil pump/timing chain/vavle springs without even having to refer back to it....it's very detailed....wooden dowel rods will work to hold the lifters up, or pen magnets

LS1howto.com is a great site for install write ups. I have used it myself numerous times working on my cars or friends cars. I also use the dowel rod method for holding the lifters up, makes it real easy.

Might take a look at EPS cams, melling oil pump, and comp 850-16 litters(if you ever have the heads off).

Yeah you can run just the chain with your stock LS1 gears with no issues. The stock LS1 gears don't have many problems, just the chains.

I would get the torquer v.2 cam kit and a ls2 timing chain.what tranny do you have?do you have a ls6 intake?also consider upgrading your rocker arms with some comp cam trunnion bearings.maybe sell the hand held tuner and get a mail order tune from frost.

I second the Torquer 2. With mods similar to yours and no cats I put down slightly over 400hp/tq
