If it is not going to be a race car and you are not planning to look for a ton of power I would just go with the LS6 motor. LS6s have more compression in stock form making them a little better to drive on the street.

LQ4, at 9.4:1, is safe on 85 octane, LS6, at 10.5:1, should get 91+ octane. But that Denali should be an LQ9. 10.08:1. If so, $1200 is a good price, at 24K miles. $1200 isn't such a fair price for any LQ4.

i thought denali was lq4 and escalade was lq9

so if it is a lq4 what would a good price be for it with 24k

If its truly an lq9 I would go that route, but I would say no to an lq4.

The lq9 allows you to run L92 heads down the line if you want to upgrade.

If the price difference is that much I would go LQ4 and then throw some 243 heads on it to get the compression back. Throw a small cam in there and you will have a very nice cruising car.

get the the 224r cam kit from TSP and leave the heads on it.the truck intake can make good power up to 5500rpm.
