Default Gains from TR230

Ok, so I have some pretty big plans for my car come spring. My car is basically stock except for an slp air lid.

What kind of HP increase will I see on my 2000z with a TR230/224 .575 .563 111 lsa, 1 3/4 longtubes, custom Y with flowmaster merge, SLP LM 2 exhaust, ported throttle body and street tune. Is 375 rear wheel about right? Just trying to get a ballpark of what I should expect.

Also wanted to mention that the LS6 intake will be purchased but not right away.

Are you shooting for a certain number? Or looking for a quicker E/T?

Not sure if you know this yet, but that 230/224 is a reverse split cam. People have made decent power with them, but is there a reason you are set on that selection?

Well, I was shooting for 400 but,

I arrived at a reverse split cam because I'm not planning on getting an ls6 intake right away and I'm sticking to my stock heads. I was reading that with a good flowing exhaust with this cam, I'll make pretty good power so I thought why not. Found a decent deal on the cam so I pulled the trigger.

Good call on the cam then. I was just checking to see if you knew about them.

I havent seen too many custom reverse grinds, but this one is pretty tried and true. Definitely against the grain. I like it.

Nice, thanks for the input guys. I think I'll be very satisfied with this cam.. Seeing those numbers...I can't wait to get this thrown in! And to caseypryan, I actually do have a 3" cutout immediately following the flowmaster merge, forgot to list that in the op.

i run a cam pretty much similar to the TR230. I have the X1 230/227 591/571 112 on a auto stock heads. I gained 70 rwhp with that cam and tuned. With bolt ons i made 322/333. With just that cam, stall, and a tune i made 395rwhp.

I love how civil my cam is. I can start it up anytime, not worrying about bucking, surging or being a pain to drive. I will be adding heads, and a ported fast intake to see how much HP i can make with this cam.

I have something similar but on comp xe lobes. Great low end torque, drives like their is no cam but pulls hard, especially above 3500-4k. I shift at 6300rpm. Lopes pretty damn well too so it gives that cool "big cam" sound a lot of people like without the negatives of having a donkey dick cam.

My dyno numbers looked like crap (final numbers were 350rwhp/325rwtq, but it did show 370rwhp/345tq on the same dyno in drier weather...both times were SAE corrected) converter unlocked and exhaust capped, but at the track I'm trapping like a 375-380rwhp car for my weight.

It LOVES good exhaust...I pick up an average of .15 and 2mph with my cutouts open...and I have true duals 3" to muffler and 2.25" over the axle from the mufflers. Cutouts are 8-12" behind the collectors.

The Thunder Racing lobes should be a little more aggressive in mid lift so it should make more power than mine. One of the tech gurus on here said it could be as much as a 10hp difference.

Overall I guess I'm pleased but given the choice to do over I would get something newer, slightly larger, and standard split or if I wanted to keep it reverse something like the "El Torro" cam (search). I didn't count on getting a Fast intake for the price I did so it makes a lot less sense now.

Got the cam today. It has some pitting on it.

Is this something to be worried about? I was told everything was in good shape.

You need to take a better pic. Can't make anything out.
