Hey guys im just looking for some info from what i've read after installing a big cam you usually are left with a louder valvetrain. I have a a lunati voodo 227/233 cam with .584/.854 lift with a 113 lobe, also with this upgrade i installed dual valve spring timming chain and pushrods. Like i said i was wondering if the noise that almost seems like a sewing machine noise is normal.
Thanks for the input

Did you check for proper pushrod length? If you are using the stock rocker arms, they are non adjustable. They rely on the correct length pushrod to properly preload the lifters. Camshafts can be ground on different blanks and have a smaller or larger base circle diameter. This measurement also applies to different cylinder heads and thickness of head gaskets.

how many miles on the lifters?did the heads come off the engine?if so what head gaskets did you use ?take your valve covers off and inspect the valve stem for lifter wear.if the rocker arm wear is in the middle of the valve stem your valve train geomentry is ok.

i just tried a couple different lifter preloads and picked which was the quietest. for my setup it was .065
just count the turns past 0 lash, no need for a pushrod length checker or anything at this point.

Lifters are making the noise, not the cam. It is very odd you went to a longer pushrod on an LS1 and are now saying you need something even longer. Yes the base circle of that cam is likely smaller but a vast majority of people would run a standard 7.400 pushrod on that and be fine.
