Custom eps cam and 243 heads
Hey guys I've been in the market for a new cam and swapping out my 224 since the car is a weekend toy now and I want to hear opinions on this setup. EPS 234/242 .604/.605 112 and a set of 243 heads sent out to AI or TEA milled to 59cc with a .40 gasket. Also an ls6 Intake but preferred a 90mm fast I will be buying off of my buddy. I've been searching and it seems alot of people have great success with this setup and I know I will have to flycut. What will my scr and dcr be? I have 93 available here and don't want to run any higher of octane. Thanks guys offer your opinions!

that will be a sick setup... I don't have my dcr cal on me but scr will be 11.73 ish including a 1cc flycut...
mine is 57.5cc with a .040, 239/243 110+3 TFS 215s and I have ran on 93 with no knock...I usually splash it with a few gallons of 100 on the way to the track just to be safe...
I am 11.95:1 and 9.03 dcr
if I didn't get these heads for so cheap I would either have went with AI or TEA stg 2.0s too...
my setup put down 495rwhp 426rwtq through a lock a4 12 bolt 4.10 rear

Your flycuts will lose you some compression.. The deeper the flycut the more compression you lose. Mine are .200 deep and I'm at 11.1:1 comp with .040 cometics and 60cc heads with pistons above deck at .005-.007

You could do either or really. The compression could be the exact same either way depending on the depth of flycuts. Id go with 60cc though reason being maybe in the future they will need a clean up mill and you'll give yourself some more room to play with.

Yeah most likely, I am the one with the flycutting tool ...rob and I have talked about your combo...
I think you might have a typo .200 is crazy deep flycuts considering our piston tops are only around .240 thick...
for reference I cut mine .110...
no you will be fine with your current setup...59 or 60 cc will not affect much...1cc~ .15 scr...
also I cced my flycuts at .110 deep and both intake and exhaust together came out to around 1.1cc total...
so it is not a wash milling 1cc vs the extra needed .006 ptvc needed with an added flycut...so just going by my numbers and assuming linear which we all know the deeper you cut the more the volume increases, but none the less 1cc mill is equal to 1.1cc *(.006/.110) = +0.06cc added due to flycut

Maybe they are .120 deep. I think my shop told me wrong because they sure didn't look like .200 deep. So I guess my compression is actually higher now because of that let me calculate it.

I calculated it to be around 11.4:1 - 11.5:1 now. 3.905 bore, 3.622 stroke, 3.910 head gasket bore, .040 cometic head gaskets compressed thickness, 60cc chambers, -1.2cc flycuts (.120 deep), and piston above deck -.005 to -.007, quench around .033-.035.. does this sound right Chris?

yeah I am getting 11.55:1...but scr really means nothing...dcr (dynamic compression ratio) tells the tail if you are safe on 93 or not...
I would stay under 8.8:1 even though I am pushing 9.0:1 with my setup...my TFS heads have very efficient chambers and only liked 26* of timing max at peak, plus this was done with a tighter quench due to the cometic .040...

What information do you need from me to determine dcr? I tried to do it but I think I'm doing it wrong.. intake close @ .050 45.6 ABDC.. I think all the other info you'd need is listed above.. anything else?

Anthony this bitch will Rap and fool people for sure. Stick with the build plan no reason to change what we told you to go with it's a soild setup and make great power on 93. should be 450 no problem after we get the little stuff worked out

Anthony what lsa and advancement are you going to run...I can then calculate your dcr for you
scr with .007 piston out of the hole is 11.67:1
11.70:1 with .008 out of the hole
both added in 1cc total flycut
