Worth it to swap stock heads out for EPS cammed daily driver?
My car is an 02 WS6, m6 car, with GMMG exhaust and a lid.
My goal is to have a reliable 370 rwhp/torque car on STOCK MANIFOLDS. Retaining at least 26 mpg highway and 17 mpg city.
I drive my car about 15-17k miles a year, so when I say DAILY driver I mean it. Not you're down the street commuter here.
Would it be worth it to swap the heads out if planning for an EPS cam or Cheatr cam?????
How would the heads affect the reliability of daily driving???
Is it possible to get 370 rwhp on manifolds? or am I dreaming.
Thoughts/advice please...

How would the heads affect gas mileage? Lets say if I went with some ported LS6 heads.
I've been scoping the ones from TSP, the PRC stage 1's. Looks like a good price.
But the budget to do everything is$2500 including labor and tune. Currently my car has 95k miles on the stock valvetrain.
Anyone else care to chime in?

Texas Speed can definelty get you headed in the right direction, and as far as gas mileage goes, I wouldnt be suprised to see numbers go up a bit if you kept your foot out of it with a mild setup.

Thanks for all the feedback.
I think I'm gonna call Texas Speed tomorrow and Geoff over at EPS and get some answers as to the best route to take budget wise and matching up components that are the most effective....etc etc.

Honestly 241 castings are good heads untouched. But if you want to try some different and stealthy, check out this thread.

Talking with Geoff would be the route I would take.

Comp can do a variation of the grind or exactly the same one. The thread was just to merely give him ideas about a combo with a stock idle and could probably pass emissions w/ cats of course.

I know in the original post he stated manifolds but there are 50 state legal headers he could go with and they have all the emissions fittings needed to make his car California Legal. They even come with a CARB sticker to place under the hood. That is the only reason why I gave a reverse split as a suggestion. I should have made my post more clearer. Sorry guys.

I doubt it would be worth it to do shorty headers to see significant gains over the manifolds. Most people seem to dismiss the idea of doing shorties period after the posts I read through.
I'm pretty sure LT headers are illegal in CA, otherwise I would have done it already.
What is reverse split btw???

I have an 02 LS1 and after some research it seems as if they had the best manifolds out of all the years of the F Bodies.

I just put in an EPS 222/226 .596/.598 114 cam and went from the stock 806 heads to LS2 243 heads. I am also sticking with the stock exhaust manifolds (stupid Cali laws) with the SLP LM1 catback. I should get my car back this week tuned and dyno'd so I will post my numbers and let you know.

Is there any way you can get a video up of how your car sounds with the stock manifolds at both idle and revving.
I cannot find any videos online with cammed ls1's going through stock manifolds. They all have headers.
Thanks buddy that would be appreciated, and thanks again to all for dropping their 2 cents.
