Default Knicked deck

So tonight we were cleaning off the block deck to get it ready for the heads to go on and the razor caught and scratched the deck next to one of the water jackets. It isn't a big one but you can definitely feel it. Should i be concerned about the Head gasket sealing properly? What are my options without pulling the motor and taking it to a machine shop.

Your first priority is to post some pictures so we can see it.

I knicked mine when I bumped it with the head. I CAREFULLY sanded the burr down and wiped it with a tiny bit of epoxy. It was fine.

That does not look like anything to be concerned with at all. If you are really worried about it you can put the ever so thinest smudge of Permatex Gasket Sealer next to the water port.

Take a small, fine flat file and file it flat, moving as away from the cylinder/water port as possible. As long as the surface is flat or even has a small low spot it should be fine. You just want to remove high spots or burrs while keeping the fine shavings out of the motor.

Mine was worse than yours. Like said before, knock off the burr, then permatex a little.
Happy ending.
