Default trex or raptr???

2002 formula, t56, pacesetter longtubes ory, cutout and borla exhaust.

im lookin for about 425+ on a cam only setup and will be adding spray in the winter. wanna know what cam you guys think i should go with. i like the raptr cam alot from vids of how it sounds, and how nice of power it makes but last night found a guy who is making 449 wheel on a trex cam so im up in the air on what to get. also both make good nos cam according to thunder racing.

also up in the air about going to a fast intake with fast toys lid and tsp maf but all depends on how much money ill have to do it.

stock rear. its a weekend worrier. and street car track maybe once a month for fun and itll be my first cam swap in my own car but have helped others do theres

I would think the " RapTR" would be a slightly more streetable cam, but regardless I'd still lean towards a EPS cam.
EPS 236(.615")/248(.615") 110lsa

The EPS cams are proven performers when it comes to making the most HP/TQ, plus the wider split should be a little better w/NOS.

Between those 2 choices, i would definitely go with the T-REX.

Me I'm a trex man
I would pull heads, mill the heads. Cut in vr. Get thinner gaskets and install the Rex
Trex is unreal on a strong dose. And pulls hard on top to The top

Everyone will tell you their opinion on their favorite cam. Any custom specd cam from a reputable shop would be your best bet.
Of the two you have listed, id pick a trex
Its still the fastest cam only ls1 for a reason, its nasty

I had a TREX in a forged 347ci with ported heads and a fast 90...made great power, but that cam is just too big. didnt pull till 4000 rpms but pulled hard after that. But up to that, smaller cam cars would walk me from low rolls. i never had traction to go from a dig. RAPTR and equivalent sized cams are about as big as anyone should ever go on stock cubes! Besides, not everyone is gonna get 440+ cam only from the TREX...i was 453 rwhp and 404 tq with it. dyno #s arent everything. get a cam that makes good power where you need the power. midrange and low end are more important to a street car than top end...only get the TREX if your car is gonna spend most its time at the drag strip because it wont get used where its good anywhere else!

This guy hit the nail on the head. If its not a race car and fully setup for this cam your car will be a dog. Get a cam for the mods you have now or can acquire in a short amount of time and for the intended use of the car. Chasing numbers on a dyno is not racing. You can spray more and make more torque with the smaller cam. Less overlap.

Proven how?

Do you have track numbers compared to the trex? dyno numbers?

I realize everyone on this forum nut swings from whatever vendor is awesome this week.

There hasn't been many posts about the larger EPS cams.

You statement should have had more to do with overall drive ability and less to do with making "the most"

Agree. I never really liked the concept of having a v-tech cam in my car. Why half *** the car? Build it right the first time. Instead of running a cam solely based of HP numbers, try and find someone with a similar cam that will let you take a ride or drive the car. I personally would not want to deal with bucking through parking lots and losing my 6th gear.

I did know of a guy cam only a couple years ago making ~450 with the trex. It was a SOM Trans-Am.

i use the 430 wheel numbers as an idea to the kinda power it would take to get what im looking for at the track i know dyno numbers dont mean jack **** to a car for the track. im tryin to go for anything higher then 11.5 at the track cam only n try to maybe get as close to 120 as i can mph wise
