Default Torquer v.2 or 228r?

I am planning on a heads and cam swap on a 98 z28 with a m6. I am planning on using PRC 2.5 5.3 heads with a 228r or Torquer v.2 cam. Looking for first hand experience with this setup. Opinions on power, torque, tuning, track times? The car is not a daily driver. Maybe 2000 mile a year. It goes to the drag strip 2 or 3 time a year and 1 or 2 autox a year. Car made 336 hp and 347 ft torque with AFR leaning out to 13.2 at top end. Best track time is 12.56 at 109 mph. Tune in stock now.

The cars mod now: ls6 intake, ported thottle body, QTP headers, off road y pipe, and 4.10 gears.

Torquer 2 here. No way I'd go smaller with 4.10s. Absolute blast of a powerband with them.

hey man if you wanna hold off....I'm getting my car street tuned in a week (dropping off next friday) and then afterwards putting it on the dyno at my friends house. We're doing a street tune cause I autox and the guy's real good with that setup

I got PRC 2.5 5.3 heads milled to 63cc chambers with felpro graphite head gaskets giving me 10.96:1 compression with Patriot Gold Dual Springs, 25% UD Pulley, LS6 intake, ported throttle body, LT headers with custom y using Flowmaster Y collector and cutout

I talked to MANY people to include tuners and serveral manufacturers and the best cam we came up with to match that setup was 224/228 .595/.578...I chose a 111 LSA since I wanted a lower powerband...but you would probably want a 113 or 114 with 4.10 gears...I'm still on 3.42's...otherwise we're VERY similar in design. I'll be sure to let you know what I pull if you're waiting that long before ordering.

The 228 is a very popular choice for a DD and all around cam. But i would step up to the TSP Torquer 2. I think you will be amazed (as long as your tuner tunes it perfect) how well your car drives and wish you could have stepped up to more cam. I would go with the Torquer 2. Its a pretty good size for a DD, and all around cam also.

both of these are good choices and very popular, but i'd say get a custom grind.....talk to one of the cam guru's and tell them exactly what you want the car to do......setup your powerband exactly where you want it......you can have your cake and eat it too

torquer all the way. I like a little more duration with the 5.3 heads and since its not a DD street manners will not be a big deal, not that that cam is big anyways.

Torquer 2 with 411's is the Goldilocks cam for the street. Not too big or too small. Just right.

Im running a torquer v2 with stock 241s and I couldn't be happier. Car runs great after a good tune and made 395 rwhp through an a4 with a yank 3600.

Torquer 2 here, track times in sig with stock heads and intake. Best Na times was 11.54 at 115. When I was a 6sp car with your basic setup the car went consistent 11.8s.

Default Torquer 2 here

Get the Torquer 2! My setup is Torquer v2 cam, prc 5.3 heads, cometic gasket @ .040 thickness for 11:1 compression, ls2 lifter trays, ls7 lifters, manley rods, stock 1.7 rockers, headers, true duals, intake, etc. 425rwhp 405rwtq through auto. Soon I will convert to stick. Great setup imo. Oh btw the torquer is the same cam as the 228 foudn that out when tsp didnt have my cam and it got shipped firect from comp cams.

It is not the same as the 228 as it has a 232/234 duration

Not trying to hijack this thread but I have a question that may contribute to it.

I am having the same dilemma. Can't decide on the 228r or V2. Im shooting for 400 plus wheel hp on a full bolt-ons 01 ws6 m6 with stock heads. Its gonna be a DD. What would be a good lsa for these cams? Im looking for low to mid range power? I have a stock rearend right now but Im looking to up grade to 410s in the future.
