No.

You are not going to find stock heads with 600 miles on them, maybe 600 after they were freshened up.

You can get good condition used 243's for 4-500. I actually got mine from $320 with the Z06 cam on craigslist, then sold the cam for $125. Just look around. 241's should be next to free and aren't worth changing to from your current heads, what are your current heads 853's? 241's are just stock LS1 heads, no point in paying extra for something you basically have already. And if you haven't checked your heads for casting numbers they may already be 241's.

If you meant to type 243's then yes that is a good deal, I wouldn't be surprised though if they are 243's without the lightweight vavles. Also I would take them to a machine shop to be checked out before installing them.

I currently have the 806 heads so whatever heads i get unless they're 806, I'll need the valve cover cause my 806 heads have the perimeter bolts, not sure about the coil packs

These 241's I found on CL, the guy says they were took off a showcar and only have 600 miles on them.

I'm pretty sure that valve with the towel wrapped around it is screwed so I'm not wanting to put those old 806's back on, they have 130 K on them, If i could find a nice set of ported 806's that would be ideal since I wouldnt need new valve covers

Oh you have the old 806's, well I don't believe much that I hear on Craigslist, or that they only have 600 miles and are from a show car, you could probably pick up a good used set of 241's for 100 or so dollars. If you're worried about the valve take it to a machine shop. You can get a valve and then lap them all in for around 30$. But I would have the surface checked at the machine shop for good measure.

There are 243 heads from all sorts of applications, you can find them used from GTO's and trucks for around 300 sometimes.

I'm wondering if it would be cheaper to take my 806's to a machine shop and have them redone with new valves, that would make it easier as I wouldn't need new valve covers and coil brackets, anyone have an idea what a machine shop would charge?

Not to make a buck off your misery (sorry to hear about it) but I have a set of stock 243's with valves if your interested. I paid $450 and ended up not needing them so I'll pass them along for $450. Just PM me cause I might lose this thread.

I would like to get some 243's, but I have to spring for new valve covers and coil brackets since I have the 98's. I'm debating on if the extra 15 or so horses is worth the extra money and downtime i need to track all of it down. This wasnt planned and money is tight right now

As far as 241's I have read that there isn't much difference in them compared to the 806's or 853's. stock

I ordered a set of GM Head Bolts from the WS6 Store and a pair of Head gaskets. Also need to get new Manifold gaskets cause I tore them taking them off. Also need a Rocker Support Stand cause I broke it taking off the first head. Oh yea and new valve cover gaskets, Its the little **** that adds up quick

well not to bash or anything but your reading is wrong and for the power your going to gain its well worth it plus if you wantto upgrade you have cores to send out and get doneup. but what do i know all the cars we ever did hit 10;s with 241' and 243's and well over 400 hp atthe wheels

I know 243's are better, I would love to find a cheap set in good shape but this wasn't a planned build, and my goal right now is to get my car back on the road as quickly as possible, I appreciate everyone's input here.

Ha, I wish that were true, if that was the case, I would be looking for a built trans and a Stall.
