Default Comparison between TR224/224/112 and TR224/224/114

Tried to do a search but found no matches. I'm thinking of getting a camaro M6, I'd like to know the HP difference between a TR224/224/112 and a TR224/224/114, Dyno graph would be great if possible, I know that the 112 LSA would be better on a M6 but I'm concerned with emissionns here in cali plus I want to spray from time to time. I believe a 114 LSA would be better than a 112 W/spray, am I right? so again what are the HP differences? all info is welcome and thanx in advance.

I've looked at the two over and over and what I'm consistently seeing is a slightly improved midrange on the 112 at a small sacrifice to hp at the last 400 rpms. 114 is opposite.

I'm in Cali, as well, and am planning on either the TR 220 or 224 on a 114. The 112 seems like it's just a little harder to get past the smog guys.

Hp difference is very little. As said above, the 114 peaks a little later and doesn't seem to have as much down low. My guess it would not even be noticable. The 114 idles and drives better with no tuning and will pass easier.

Yes, the difference in negligible, and may not even show on a dyno. A 112 will idle a little lopier and is great for M6 cars. My TR224 114 actually had a 113.5 LSA on it. The grinding process isn't perfect.

i just installed a 112 and i gotta say i love it. Decided to go with it for the shifted power range. Have not had it tuned and have had no issues. The only thing i have to worry about is the smog man as im out here in cali too. But everythin seemed to work out and its technically on a 112.7 which may save me. My reccomendation is call up thunder and see if u can find a cam like mine that has the LSA around 113 therefore givin ya a nice middle ground. Now that thats been said, im gonna go play with my car.

PS: I wanna thank all the guys on the forum here cuz i have learned sooo much and have been helped numerous times. LS1Tech RULES!!!

that was a bad guess considering between the tr224,227, tr230 there was only about 10rwhp between the 224 and 230 and only about 5rwtq with the 227 falling in the middle.

2* of duration is about 20 rwhp, so the new T-Rex cam should consistently make at least 200 RWHP more than a 224 cam.

The difference is Peak vs. Mid Range and that is it. The 112 will make more midrange power than the 114....I have had this cam and no many others in Cali that have passed smog with it.

I am saying that I know of people who have passed smog with this cam...however I have been talking to some people about OBD II Smog Checks and it is my understanding that places like Los Angeles are going to start monitoring the PCM to see if the O2's pass the pretest at start up. Apparently the PCM runs a sample during warm up and has an associated value with it. It doesn't trigger a DTC or Check Engine Light but is recorded by the PCM. I don't know how many SMOG check stations are savvy to this or if it is really even required at this point, but with the EPA cracking down on the Federal Highway Administrations reimbursement of Transportation Funds on Transportation Projects in a weak attempt to get within the 8 hour Ozone requirements in Non Attainment areas...politicians are out to make laws that apply mainly to avoid the real problem with SMOG...that being uncontrolled Diesel emmisions (PM10 & 13) and non regulation on Agricultural Equipment....but they certainly don't have a problem trying to mess with vehicles that are already low emmision standard...its a real mess....passing smog will rely more on the common sense of the smog station.
