Default MS4 on stock pistons?

Can you run a MS4 cam on stock pistons and not have PTV issues? without having to flycut them?

If the heads and gaskets are stock yes. If you have thinner head gaskets, or larger valves, or milled heads, etc you will need to clearance the pistons.

Should clear no problem with stock cylinder heads and gaskets.

Stage 3 heads really aren't ideal for an LS1 short-block to start. The valves are too big and are shrouded on the relatively small bore.

The next issue, if you decided to run them shrouded like that, would piston to valve clearance. You will need to flycut the pistons FOR SURE with that camshaft and those heads!

Still shrouding the valves....MS3 still needs flycut with them as well. Anything over about a 2.04" intake valves is too much for your LS1 bore.

Not sure if I'm just not conveying this well enough or what, but those Stage 3 heads SHOULD NOT be used on a standard LS1 bore. The valves are shrouded (too close to sleeves) on the small bore.

For a real tight budget, stock LS6 heads would be a good upgrade over the LS1's you have. Or, for a little more money the Stage 2.5 5.3's and MS3 would be a blast and knock down some great ET's (of course with the proper bolt-ons and suspension upgrades!) For a wider budget, the aftermarket castings, be it PRC or TFS, would be the best performance!

The prc 5.3 heads are tough to beat on the street. You can keep all the down low torque to kill them big headed cars.

That has been proven to be incorrect. The trick is not the size of the runner, but its ability to move air and maintain velocity.
