Default 5.3/6.0 swap questions

ok guys so very long story short..picked up a 01 z in oct and nothing but problems and the cam had a chip on one of the lobes so pulled the heads and swapped lifters, new heads, new oil pump and tried cleaning the engine as much as possible with flushing oil everywhere i could..

so get here all done with a new eps cam and was having some valvetrain noise i assumed they were to short and must have measured wrong so i decide to move the car to the street for something and sounds like lifters took a **** and probally worse sounds just like a issue a user posted a few weeks back where his bearings went..keep in mind since all the parts its had a few hrs runtime and was really strong just sounded like pushrod issues. no bent pushrods but no oil came out of a few on the pass side and lifters were spongy after i heard the sound..

SO now since this engine is cursed ive decided to just pull it like i should have the first time and either get a cheap 6.0 or 5.3

so few questions and forgive me if i havent searched enough...

from what i gathered all i need to make it be a direct swap is front acc, intake, oil pan, balancer, and exhaust manifolds??

does it matter which year they come from?

i called a few places around here and almost no one has a 6.0 and if so they want 1200 and found a few 5.3 for 5-600 so might go that route just so i can drive it

thanks

Get a 5.3 and bore it over to a 5.7 specs ull gain a little weight but it'll be cheaper than a 6.0

Yes u can leave it over and swap the intake and pan and it'll pretty much bolt right up. If u bore it out tho u can use ur old pistons and crank and make it a iron 5.7

You have gen 3's put in vehicles from 99 to 07 LM7, L59, Lm4, L33 ,,,,,,,L59 is flex-fuel and the LM4 and the L33 are both aluminum with the L33 being the high output 1 with 330 hp and 335 tq . Starting in 05 they started putting gen 4's in but were also putting gen3's in some vehicles . If You google any GM engine , then click wikipedia , it has general info for all of GM's engine line-up by engine family..........
