Default Head Recommendations

I need help on selecting a good head for my cam. Will have 150 shot running thru it as well.

Specs on cam are
239/244 .612/.612

Any recommendations?

Not sure if they will clear but another 300$ and you could grab some 205s used.

If not i would be looking at the prc line.

I purchased a set of PRC 2.5 5.3 heads, but then found out that I don't have enough clearance for my cam.

Gotta sell those now and purchase another set. Hoping to get it right next time.

Damn.. Not much will clear those heads then. I'd say you are limited to a ls6 stg1 or maybe a 5.3 2.5 but doubtful.
Stg1s are cheap so that's nice.

i'll ask the obvious question i guess . why not cam your motor for the correct heads instead of choosing the heads based on a cam? seems kinda backwards i think..

I asked myself the same question, but seems (in my opinion) that I would loose power by downgrading cam. Correct me if I'm wrong but say for example;

Current Cam x Stock 241's = 380
Smaller Cam x PRC' heads = 390ish

Seems like a lot of work for the same amount of power. Again, this is only my opinion and although others have seem power in the range of 410-420 with Torquer v. cam, keep in mind that I am in Vegas and the altitude sucks A$$

well my personal opinion would be to buy the best head you can afford and cam the motor for that head. if your stuck on that cam you could either get with a good cylinder head guy and see how much clearance he can get you by sinking the valves or flycut. i would sell the prc's and the cam and start over if i was you. making power with a good set of heads is always better than running a big cam with a shitty set of heads. just my .02

if your talking about corrected numbers on a dynojet i'd be pretty pissed if a 239/244 only made 380rwhp

If you already have the 5.3 heads why don't you flycut the pistons?

I considered this also, but flycutting stock pistons on nitrous??

I have the heads for sale already, we'll see if they sell and I can pickup some other head.

That's why I'm trying to do my homework in preparation of when/if they sell.

Remember, I'm in Vegas so 380 is not so bad considering our elevation.
