Default Compressed head gasket thickness on 6.0

I am installing some 65cc 317 heads and wanted to make sure I don't take any compression out of the engine and was trying to select head gaskets. Does anyone know the compressed thickness of the factory 6.0 graphite or fel-pro graphite head gaskets? I see cometic makes a .030" gasket but its 180 dollars for 2. I was wanting to keep costs down since I am just keeping it mild and wanted to find an affordable 6.0 head gasket that is around .040" or below.

One more question just to verify. With the 317 heads on a 5.7 I need a 4.00" bore head gasket correct?

Those will do the trick! They are about .051-.055" compressed thickness.

To get .040" or thinner it's going to have to be an aftermarket gasket.

Is the stock ls1 head gasket the same thickness as the stock ls2 gaskets? Since the 317 heads are milled .050" if I went with a .030" head gasket would I have intake alignment issues?

Yes sir, they are the same thickness within just a couple thousandths. Milled .050" and that thin a gasket I'd get ready to work on intake alignment!

There is one more consideration besides thickness and that is bore size of the gasket. There are two factory .051" thick gaskets that work on 6 liters. One is for 6.2 liter engines like the one that Texas Speed suggested and one is for the 6.0. The 6.2 gasket is 4.080" while the 6.0 gasket is 4.040". The difference in compression is a whopping .04. LOL

I know this because I was trying to get the 6.0 gaskets and they were out of stock so I got the 6.2 gaskets. On an LS2 that is the difference between. 10.88:1 or 10.92:1. To me, it is not even worth worrying about, but if you want every last bit........................ I don't remember the part numbers.

Good point...the ones I listed are less expensive and the compression difference in most cases isn't worth worrying about.

i know im diggin and im just wondering about CR but looking to keep it a tad lower but not to crazy low so that i dont lose too much response and lowend torque.

I got some untouched 317 heads and i was planning on running boost
i was planning on running some cometics .040 with the 317 heads (no milling). with t he calculator if i use .040 x 4.010 gaskets, gives me a CR or 9.9:1 CR roughly.
was wondering if theres anything wrong with running it like this? only plan on boosting 10psi for starters. no more then 14psi max though, limited by fueling and wastegate lol
