Default 5.3 heads or ls6 heads?

I have some ls6 (243's) heads that I'm putting on my ls1. Some of my friends are telling me that I should go with the 5.3's. What are you guys opinions?

alot of people go with ported 5.3s for good flow and lots of compression. if its between stock 5.3s and stock 243s then go with 243s hands down. the 5.3 heads theyre referring to are like prcs stage 2.5 5.3 head from texas speed. or i think hpe has a stage 3 5.3 head. flow almost as good as a 243 ported and also raise the compression usually to around 11:1

LS6 is a better head stock, there shouldn't be any argument about that

A stage 2.5 5.3 head compared to a stage 2.5 243 head. World of difference performance wise?

I always thought all bets were off once either of the heads were ported?

I'd stick with the LS6 heads you already have. If you are not having them ported, stock for stock, the 243's without a doubt. Either way, stock or ported, I think you should keep the 243's.

Great. Thanks for the info guys.

Also. Would it be a major noticeble difference between ported and un-ported 243's? I'm debating if I should or shouldn't. It would be going outside of my budget.

Fairly certain the 243s flow about 260 cfm stock and Advanced Inductions
has a price friendly valve job and freshen w/PSI beehives which will do ya
right and cost less than a full port job
