Default new bullet...?

alrighty.... im taking a stock 5.3 long block, putting a magic stick 4 in it, blowthrough E85 with a 67mm turbo. going to be on 12 lbs or so of boost in a 2600 pound car, 235 60 15 drag radials, with a 373 gear.
by the way: its a 63 nova thats gonna be driven to highschool everyday... any guesses on how fast she'll run?

why put a ms4 in a 5.3 and boost it? with a tiny turbo at that? I mean the 2600lbs 373 gear sounds good but thats also a tiny tire

troll thread?

Ditch the big *** cam, and get something turbo friendly. That cam is pretty big for an ls1, and even bigger for the 5.3

Too much overlap for boost street use.

Wow - Come on here and ask for opinions and then provide an answer like that. Awesome buddy. I agree with everyone else - way too much cam for a 5.3. Lose the cam, lose the attitude.

you cant ask us what we think then get ill when we tell you. That cam is too much for a 5.3. A good blower cam and that turbo and youll be in the right direction. Basically the cam is just going to let every bit of boost you make pass right through the motor. basically youll never make boost and defeat the point of the turbo

Not... which is what I would want for a car being driven by someone that's in highschool. Hope you like buying tires too.

I think it would be a good idea to try a different cam. The MS4 is way too large for a 5.3 with a turbo. Usually we run something in the 2 teens for duration on a turbo 5.3, especially one that will be driven everyday.

Just being a smart *** cause of the "troll thread" comment he made. Sorry..

As far *** the tires go..... I burned the first set of bfg's within 2 months. Never again will I do that. Lol

It's a daily driver. I have a s10 with a 418 ls, I'm not your stereotypical high school kid.

I'm gonna give Texas speed a call n just buy a new cam.

Thanks for the input fellas, Slone

Im not trying to insult you I was just wondering why you would put that combination together. seemed like something ridiculous in a troll thread....

to put it into perspective I saw a build once where a guy made 494rwhp with an MS4 and a TVS 1900 Magnacharger on a 6 speed 6.0 gto. My best friend made 512rwhp through an auto with nothing but a TVS 1900 complete stock long block on a 6.0 GTO. Big overlap is just bad for boost

Naw, that's why I put it on here just to see what y'all would say cause I have an old ms4 and a 5.3. Thought it'd sure beat the heck out of the 350 that's in it. But if it's really gonna hurt it that much I might as well buy a decent turbo cam n sell the ms4.

what's wrong with the stock cam in that motor? you say stock long 5.3, is it an lm7? those tiny valves won't like any of what you're trying to do with that cam. using a th-something i assume? you must be trying to limit your trap speed to 110 with those tires and that gear.

I couldn't tell you what it is honestly. It's out of an 06 tahoe with 27,000 on it.

If it were me and All I could change was the cam Id put a small one in it that didnt require me to turn the **** outta the motor to get anything out of it. With that turbo I think its going to be too small to truely support the motor. Im no expert and you need to verify this. Its not going to necessarily be bad for it, but I know a guy with a 76mm on a ls1 and it spools it well and carries the powerband all the way to the top
