Default LS1 to LS6 Z06 Swap

Hi everyone. I've been digging through older posts on this forum for the past week now, and I have found a lot of useful info.
This past week I purchased an LS1 to LS6 Z06 parts upgrade from pace performance. The swap comes with LS6 Z06 heads, cam (Duration @
.050: 204 I / 218 E .550" / .550
), valves, springs, retainers, and gaskets. It requires reuse of my stock roller rockers and push rods.
Im looking to upgrade my roller rockers and push rods. I found out that 1.7 ratio roller rockers will match my stock ratio, and 7.4" push rods should be safe. But what diameter can fit in the Z06 head. will I be ok with going with a 7.4" (5/16 diameter) chromally pushrod? Should I just reuse my stock hardware? After this package is installed with my headers and drive shaft, Im having the car dyno-ed and PCM tuned at SLP in NJ. The tuning calls for raising the revlimiter to 7K (or 7.5K can't remember). I've read on hear that going to 7.5K is not too wise with stock hardware, thus my concern with the roller rockers and pushrods. Should I only have them raise the revs to 7K? Has anyone here done this swap? Any info and advice would be great.
my current car mods are in my sig.

thx

Hi,
I did this swap on a C5. The stock rockers & pushrods are the same for LS1 & LS6. SLP and many others have chrome moly pushrods that are stiffer for ~$100 but the stockers seem to work fine with the stock cam & springs. Katech claims that stiffer pushrods (they use Diamond Racing) will delay valve seat bounce a few hundred rpm when tested on their Spintronics machine with an after market cam & springs.

The stock LS6 rev limit is set at 6600. The max valve train speed for a stock ’02 LS6 is ~6800 rpm according to Chevy. For the parts you now own, I would use the stock 6600 rev limit.
Good luck,
Steve

hay thanks for the response. I'll take your advice on the rev limit when the car is tuned.

Haven't purchased LS1edit yet . . . but I still plan to. I'm going to have to save up enough cash for AutoTap also, as I figure edit is worthless without being able to look at the results. We'll see how my tax refund is this year!

I doubt you would get enough HP to be worth a $450 tune.

Getting the car tuned is going to be more of a vacation for me and some friends to drive down for a long weekend. I need LS1edit and autotap to make changes for previous mods also, so Im looking at the same price almost, except it will be dyno-ed also, but I lose the luxurie of being able to screw with the computer my self. If the car makes around 400HP RW Ill be happy.
