Default Cam Dillema C5 Corvette

Im torn between two set ups.

I have a 2002 A4 C5 with lg long tubes
3 inch x pipe, borla stinger exhaust and a vararam intake, stock 3.15 gears...
Obviously I have the LS6 intake and 241 heads. I would like to get the MOST I can from a Cam only set up, and a stall of course.
Ultimately the car will be a DD but I want it to pull like crazy down low and have plenty left up top.

Pat G reccomended
Yank SS3200 stall converter coupled with a 226/230 .598/.605 113LSA cam ground with EPS/LXL lobes.

and the other set up is
custom Futral (cam Motion) 230/236 .600/.600 113LSA with a yank PT4000 stall

I'm a big fan of the EPS stuff..but both combos are nicely matched.....I'd
tend to think the smaller cam will sound/act more mild(sleeper) and the Futral
will have that 2A.M. stumble that most seem to want...Nice ride BTW

LOL thanx man.
Ive heard nothing but good things about both Grinds...
the thing thats getting me, is that if i get the smaller stall and more mild EPS cam, that ill regret not going bigger. BUT the thing that worries me about getting the big stall is that it will be very un DD friendly, especially with my high gears.

I think you'll be happy with either. I just did a 224r cam/2800 converter/LT's/LS6 intake swap and its perfect for what I want. Sounds awesome, but not too radical. Easy to drive, but still pulls like a monster up top. And mine's not even a DD, its my toy.

Do you plan on keeping the stock gears? I had the 3200 stall with 342 gears and love the way it drove.

Well they recommend at least 3.23's with the PT4000, other wise it will take a little more gas to get the car moving.
So if i go with that stall, ill most likely move up to a 3.42...

What helps you out with the higher stall is the fact that Vettes are pretty
light....generally around 3200ish lbs. I think you'll love the more aggressive
setup particularily if you go 3.42 gears....happy modding

I have an EPS 226/230-113 and honestly I wish I'd gone a tick bigger. Geoff initially suggested 226/234 for my setup but going into my 1st LS1 venture I wanted to err on the conservative side. The cam has good power but it's pretty tame at idle - I think 2* overlap is just not quite enough to give you a nice steady lope. If I do it again I'll go with a 226/234-112.

I don't think changing from a 3.15 to a 3.42 is gonna make very much difference. The Yank PT4000 is gonna move that light weight C5. You'll like the PT4000. Got your tire money saved up yet?

I'd suggest the Circle D 5c 4k stall and an MS3. Both have proven themselves over and over and in a Vette should drive excellent. You can't say "I want the most I can get cam only" then say "I want it to pull down low" those two things are not compatable IMO.

this is kinda old, but what were the numbers you put down with the futral cam? It seems that the cam motion lobes are starting to come up more and more on this forum

Both cam are really good choice. Pats cam I would rather see on a 112LSA with a looser stall, and cam motions with a slightly less intake duration and a tad tighter stall.

I havent installed it yet the stall and cam kit are stitting in my garage awating the weather to warm up and me to be not so busy with school and work...

But the Cam motion cams are NOTHING new man...they have always been bad ***....people just tend to swing off of the "popular" shops..specifically one texas lol im not bashing, they are GREAT!! as well as the other shops..but most people dont like to try something different. but any cam from Futral will be a cam motion cam, like i said nothing new. the F13 is condisderd by some to be the best cam for the 346 LS1...
ill be sure to post my results when i get it done, right now im saving up for some Custom Classics for my C5
