Sears sells quality carbide burrs . And the ramp in conjunction with the long side no ramp of the bowl area of the intake port creates a swirling action of the A/F mixture so it can be beneficial depending . I would say most N/A engines probably benefit from some ramp , in other words some of it can be removed helping flow but leaving enough for a good swirl ,,,,,,,how much ? Good question . Forced induction probably pretty safe removing most of the ramp . I'm sure someone with more experience on this will chime in as this is a general guideline . Also , I recently read a post in this forum where an engine builder or a cylinder head specialist said that it's very important to leave the intake port rough even in FI appl so rough not just good for carbed but also for fuelie as well .

I've been told by a few engine builders to finish the intake ports with a dull 80grit or even 120 grit is ok and then finish the exhaust ports to a mirror finish.
I was thinking about having these heads flowed but I am having trouble locating a local flow bench, so I guess im just going to stick them on and run them. the 1/4 mile will let me know if i increased my flow and velocity

You wouldnt happen to be in 29 palms would you? I see you location says representing Houston in Cali. I'm from TX and was stationed in 29 Palms and tried to build an engine there. It sucked. there werent too many sources for machine work.

I would say the main reasons i went with removing the ramp is:
-All CNC'd heads I saw had removed it
-the heads I admired (PRC 5.3 Stage 2.5) had removed it
-almost all i had searched had removed it
-I wasn't worried about emissions on this build, just Power
-it just made sense for performance

Now I may consider leaving it on my '84 C10 LS swap I'm doing since I plan on keeping it as efficient and emissions friendly as possible.
