Default LS6 heads on 98 engine...

What do you have to swap to put LS6 heads on an early LS1, I know the valve covers are different so I am assuming that the valve covers, and coil brackets will need to be changed to the centerbolt version. The PCV is different as well as far as I know so what is the easiest most cost effective way to get a set of heads on this thing? I would like to pick up a set of PRC 2.5 LS6 heads but if I have to change a bunch of stuff to make them work it might make more sense to just have the 241 heads ported...I don't know...

im in the process of doing this swap on a 98 rite now....... and you pretty much have it. i dont think there is anything else other than what you mentioned. if you do the ls6 intake then you need to mess with a couple other things....egr, coolant crossover(i guess you need to bend it?). thats all i can think of off the top of my head.

I will have to keep the ls1 intake because of the egr and lack there of on the ls6 for emissions reasons. I will keep my eye out for some 99 and up valve covers I guess and if I can get some for a good price I will go with that. It seems that people are awfully proud of them though. Thanks for the reply!

i just picked up a set for 75$ are ebay, you'll be able to find some for a decent price you just have to hunt around a bit. im in cali also and i still have the ls1 intake but i will be switching over to the ls6 as soon as i pass smog. after that im going to pick up an ls6 and run it for two years until i have to smog again......if by that time i dont find a ''cool'' smog guy.

SLP does make a LS6 intake with all egr provisions that is what I run I my 98 camaro Z28. Though it is a bit pricey I think like $600.00 bones.

You will need the coil pack brackets as well, the 98's bolt onto the valve covers.

You must have a stingy inspection man there, you're about the only person I know modding fbodies in TX that cares to be emissions compliant.

you got it.. coil brackets, Valve covers and just some hose to redue the pcv system slightly. why not go with a fast intake for that price?
