Angry Heavy smoke, need all info i can get!

Ok guys, Ive used the search tool and havent run across a thread that described my exact issue (and most of them that were close were OLD) so I went ahead and made one of my own.

Last night I finished installing longtubes/ORY, deleted my EGR, and put plugs and wires in my 99 WS6..(94k miles) and I am noticing some major smoke from the exhaust (NOT THE HEADERS THEMSELVES, NOT UNDER HOOD, BUT OUT THE BACK)

I do NOT currently have 02 sims in the rear as I was going to have them deleted by a buddy with LS1edit. The car has not used oil or smoked ever before...but I am getting a large amount of blueish/black smoke outta the exhaust, mainly under hard accel or on decel. I am aware the cars can have issues with valve guides and such, but I have a hard time believing that I would notice absolutely no smoke 3 days ago and now have a LARGE amount of smoke now.

Can this be EGR related? Possibly related to having no rear 02's?

I would greatly appreciate ANY knowledge on this subject, as I am bummed out beyond belief. Thanks!

my car has the same problem it smokes like a train under hard accel end on decel!! and also it back fires a little on decel i also dont have cats or rear 02are you runing a large cam?? larger cams creates a strong vacuum so is probably sucking oil from your pcv, check inside your intake you will see oil in there!! im about to order a good catch can (norris) dont get a cheap one like the ones they sell on ebay they are trash!! i have one it doesn't work!! let me know if you find the problem or if you fix it!!

Gonna check the intake today, I didnt block off the pcv yesterday but did put a new factory valve in it to see if there was any difference and there was not. It smells more like fuel than oil, I just cannot think of ANYTHING we did that could cause it to dump fuel..(the guys helping me were GM trained techs that work at my dealership, and have done more than a few header installs). Ordered a catch can that should be in today also...so we will see.

Just has me way bummed! I have taken pretty meticulous(sp?) care of this car, and this thing smokes so much I cant even drive it.

valve seals would be my first guess or even excessive richness but if its blueish id say its burning oil bad. have you checked the oil levels since its started this and noticed any difference in level?

Will valve seals burn oil on accel and decel? Thats what is so crazy about this, the car only used about a quart between changes and i never noticed smoke except for occasionally on startup before the header install.. now it doesnt smoke at all at an idle, but once at operating temp it smokes heavily under hard accel and decel.

looks like oil is down 1/3qt or so in roughly 100 miles/

yes hard accel and decel is exactly when it would do it most. my car had some wore out ones and under hard decel (i would dick off on my way home sometimes at night) and when i would do that i would see a pretty noticable use of oil. new valve seals on the new heads and it holds oil like a champ although the bottom end is gettin kinda tired now lol.

honestly if you wanna confirm if its valve seals im sure theres some way to test it

Well a lot of guys never post results, so I wanted to make sure I posted mine...

Initially when I pulled plugs while doing the header install, i had quite a bit of buildup on #7...So after work yesterday I pulled the car in and pulled #7 and #2.

less than 100 miles on these plugs, and #7 already had substantial oil buildup..#2 looked brand new

Compression test on #2 came up with 152psi compression...#7...90 psi...oiled the cylinder and only brought it up to about 120.

So...looks like the car is getting parked and it is MOD TIME through the winter...
