GM Lawsuit on "Pistonslap"
Did for me anyhow!
It does not matter how cold it is it does not make a noise other than more valve train noise but not bad. But the slap is gone I am so happy.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Its at 24,000 milesMy 2001 WS6 "slaps" too and it has 37,000 miles, but neither of the cars use oil.. heck.. I'd be afraid to let a dealership work on them.

I mean, maybe this is a real issue, but maybe you're all a bunch of wimps who are afraid of what a REAL engine sounds like. I mean, this is an LS1... if you don't want to hear your engine, go buy a lexus...
as for the guy that says its embarassing, your car could probably walk all over anyones who would make fun of you for it.
definately more noticably this winter, temps as low as 20 degrees
This "problem" has been out there for years and EVERYONE was always saying "I sure wish GM would take care of this."

Sure, for most people it was not a "big" problem (a lot of people never even really noticed it) but some DID have it and they didn't like it (would like some way to fix it). What I don't get is that now that there is possibly going to be a way to get peoples cars fixed (or at least in THEIR eyes), other people (who don't have slap or don't care) are bitching?
Sounds to me like GM has some nut-swingers.
thats what I did.........after the head/cam swap and headers/true duals, I couldn't hear my piston slap anymore
but then again the piston slap never worried me much (always planed on a rebuild some day)
