Am I missing a something here?

Either the oil rings are wrong (3mm ring pack instead of 3/16")
OR if the wristpin protrudes into the oil ring groove then you're missing what's
called the oil rail support which gets installed first and rests on the bottom of
the groove...then proceed w/expander and lower and upper oil rings...offset
of coarse.

the engine together ????? If you bought the 3/16" oil rings then they didn't
fit w/ expander because 3/16>3mm...also the 1/16" compression ring won't
fit where a 1.5mm groove is...hard to tell from pics but my guess is correct
rings missing expander. That thing had to smoke and detonate like crazy.
