Default Remove paint from LS6 springs before install?

Hey guys, my Hot Cam kit came today, and my springs are painted blue. Should I hit them up with some parts cleaner before I install them? Thanks!

OH! there's no stripe on these, which way should the spring face when I install them? The same way as the stockers?

They're fine.
No need to remove paint.

I thought LS6 springs were slime green?
They must have changed them for blue this year.

it doesn't matter which way they face when you put them on...once you fire the motor up they will spin around in circles

No ****?! Then why do some springs have stripes painted on them!? I thought those were for alignment purposes?

those are to tell the type of spring.... I know the comp 918's with the blue stripe are the ones you want. I think the red stripe is the bad batch

He has LS6 springs, not 918's.

Anyway, even if you wanted the blue paint off it'd be a pain to remove. That stuff is on there good! Just leave it on and install the springs. The paint is just there to identify springs, not for alignment.

So they really do spin and it doesnt matter which way they face? I was sure on older SBC's the springs had to be installed in a certain direction, or at least all facing the same way.

I see no need to remove the paint unless your trying to hide them from teh dealership when you go in but with the hotcam it's going to be noticible so it's not really an issue.

I was just worried about the paint chipping off in the engine, the box they came in has paint markings all around and the paint is kinda cracked in a few places

SS makes a very interesting claim that I am eager to confirm. I don’t see how an oscillating spring can generate any net rotational force much less sufficient force to overcome the seated pressure. Springs obviously do not rotate at low engine speeds. Something strange might happen at high speeds. I’ll be installing a set of 918s soon and I will align the stripes. If later I find the stripes positioned randomly I’ll know I was wrong. It has happened before.

So just to clarify... it makes no difference which way the springs go?
