So I'm running into problems re-installing my valvesprings. I have the Lingenfelter valvespring tool. My problem when I compress the spring it shifts out of center around the valve and I can only install one lock and the other wont go down into the retainer. What the hell these things are whippin my @$$, I don't know what to do.
I don't know what the lingenfelter looks like, but you could try making one yourself. It's not hard. Here's a pic of mine.
edit to comment... I think mine tended to go straight down on the spring because of the way the back part rides on a socket and not the side edge of the head.

yeah that tool you are using sucks.
Comp Cams sells one that compresses two springs at once. Its the best one currently on the market IMO.
Also, when you are installing, put a dab of grease on the lock so it "sticks" to the valve when you put it there. It just makes things a little easier that way.

So i road around all day looking for some 8mm threaded rod finally found some like 45 minutes away and was able to make some cuts and get my tool made just in time to get my first spring re-installed as the sun was going down thanks alot guys
So did you use the base part of the Lingenfelter tool?
Good luck with the rest of your build.

Believe it or not lowes did not have bolts that were long enough to cut heads off (in metric at least) the threads only went up the bolts half way.
as far as the base I actually had one of those long tounge looking valvespring tools they sell at advance for like ten bucks, I chopped the long peice off and used the bottom like in that picture.
