Re: G5X-2 cam with stock LS1 heads...dyno results within!!!
Fenris,
I don't want this to turn into a internet dyno war, but Jasons numbers came AFTER they dumped the collectors through 6" extensions plus it was done through a much better set of headers. Alan had dual mufflers + (SLP) Speghetti Long Pipe headers. Clearly not the choice to get real hp out of a car.
Plus the 9" rear is less efficient than the 12 bolt. And Fenris, there were 52 dyno runs, and 5 months in between the "back to back" test on Jasons car. So trying to find a way to compare other packages to this one is NOT an exact science. So, with all due respect, I don't think it belongs in a thread about our LG Motorsports cam package.
Y2k2ls1, The new G5X-1 is not a Texas only Cam. Call me up on Monday, and I will ship one out to you. The cam is $495 and is a 229/233, duration .590/.580 lift on any lobe center you want. We can tune your computer through the mail.
This is not a "Reverse split", and therefore it will be very NOS friendly.
The complete package, parts and labor, installed, is $1849. It includes Cam, Double springs, Titanium retainers, Push rods, Labor to install, and LS1 edit tuning
If you already have Ported heads, we will still do the install in house with your heads. We have to make sure that they are not milled too much or they WILL require valve pockets, and We must flow them and varify that they flow enough and have the same intake/exhaust ratio to work well with our cam.
Stock heads are no problem. Just like Alan's car, we just slid the cam in and ran it.
We understand that there are many of you that do your own work, and we want to help you get the most out of your cars. We just ask that you cut us a little slack on the G5X-2 cam and allow us the priviledge of keeping the G5X-2 package in house. And keep in mind that the G5X-1 cam and heads with bolt ons is a 445+ rwhp cam that is nitrous friendly.
Please take this for what it is. We are all on the same side. Remember, 16 months ago the B1 and T1 were the cams to have, and 410 rwhp was normal for a cam and head car. We all want to go fast, and we are trying to help.
Thanks Guys

I was talking about the other one. The "2" cam. And I dont prefer the ed wright ship back and forth style of tuning. I plan on using my own software and dont want to deal with "locked" info.
thanks though
If you ever do decide to sell the new one to the rest of america, please let us know. I would be interested. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> Maybe a package deal cam+fly cutter? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

I actually think it's great that Lou has been finally willing to share the info. and also ship out the G5X-1, but unfortunately with the G5X-2 out - that's the one that really is going to hold most people's interest including mine.
Oh well, too bad for me I don't live in Texas I suppose.

Re: G5X-2 cam with stock LS1 heads...dyno results within!!!
SLP headers = Spaghetti Long Pipes
The collector is one of the worst that I have ever seen. This header is a good header for the street with good balance and low end.
Alan dynoed 360 +/- before the switch to the SLP headers, and 9" rear end, but only dynoed 336 after those 2 changes. That seems to equate toa 24rwhp loss due to the 9"plus the header switch.
Now that the Spring break shootout is posponed, Alan should find a buyer for his whole exhaust, and we can build him a good "Merge system with "true duals", and "Dumps" for the dragstrip.
I think 15 to 20 rwhp with a better header and collector package.
We will install this cam in house as a cam only package, but we will not ship any of the
G5X-2 cams out. We have the G5X-1 cam available to ship out. That one did 391rwhp on LS1 Speed's dyno, through a 12 bolt, and 441rwhp with our heads. Alan has the G5X-2 cam package that put our 463.9 rwhp with our full Cam and head package, in the 98 Camaro that my son Louis drives.
We are confident that Alan will pound some good 1/4 mile times with this package. He is a serious drag racer. We have not had many customers that perform as well as Alan.
Good luck at the shootout.
Thanks for giving LG Motorsports the oppoutunity to work with you. And we appreciate your business.

That cam seriously pulls like a hoss! And it sounds ever so sweet. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
I am VERY confident that Alan will obtain some times that will surprise alot of people. <img border="0" alt="[driving]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_driving3.gif" />
I want to give out my thanks to Lou and his crew for letting us Waco guys chill up in the shop while all this was taking place and thanks for the tour. Next time we are up that way I will bring the stang and strap her down on your dyno once again.

$1850 for the complete install does not sound like a bad deal. Most cams and Edit tune will cost you $850-$900.Ti retainers, double springs and pushrods another $400.
$1300-$1350,add $500 for the install and drive it home.I like one stop shopping.
LG,you have any Northeast install centers? You are a bit to far away for me.LOL.

Re: G5X-2 cam with stock LS1 heads...dyno results within!!!
Thanks for the kind words, everyone.
I don't know the specs, although I wish I did. Lou is killing me by not telling me. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
I doubt if the car was any cooler when I dynoed post-cam install because they made at least 14 pulls to sort out the tuning.
There is a big "street legal" index-class race at Temple Academy Dragway in Central Texas this Saturday. I wish I had money to go. Gotta save up for the S/A trip (if and when it happens). Either way, track times will be coming ASAP.
Look for that dyno graph I promised tonight!
