So I let some guys listen to it before we tear into it and I'm being told rod bearing... That's no good. I have a good video with good sound but I don't have a YouTube account yet but if anyone shoots me a number I can send the video.

Put a vacuum gauge on the engine at a manifold vacuum source. If the engine has a valve train issue the gauge will bouce rapidly.
