500hp 5.3 build-up suggestions
i recently sold my mustang (still receiving payments on it) and plan on buying an 84 camaro that has had an LM7 5.3 swapped into it, i plan on putting the 5.3 drivetrain into my 88 monte carlo and id like to get 500 flywheel hp out of it on the stock bottom end, keep it EFI and get the car into the mid 11's n/a, can i get some suggestions on what h/c/i to use to get me there? im not very aware of what there are for parts for the smaller sub-4" bore motors, since ive really only read-up on LQ4 and LQ9 6.0's
thanks for any help you guys can offer!

Boost or buy a better platform
FYI, buying a swapped car is almost NEVER a good investment when you only want the engine. The swap itself is most of the cost of the car. If i were you, Id pick up a truck engine for <$500 vs buy the camaro

a 6.0/4l80e has popped up for sale locally for a reasonable price, think i could break into the 10's with L92 heads and a big cam and the supporting mods on the stock 6.0 short block?
and id be getting the camaro cheap enough to be saving money on the swap, plus i could resell the shell after i swap the motors over, but if i were to go with a turbo on the 5.3 what could i do regarding the ecu/tuning? the camaro already has a painless performance ECM and wiring harness on it that i would probably use in the monte if that helps suggest something, i had always thought about using a megasquirt setup but ive always been kind of intimidated by it since i really dont know how much wiring is involved or what exactly i would have to buy to run one

big or small can be a relative term i guess, so about what size cam should i be looking for if i was looking to get max power while using the stock bottom end?

My LQ9 should be 500 at the crank (give or take a couple, I suppose). The only changes I have are 1 3/4" headers, mildly ported 317's (mostly just polished and mild bowl & valve work...not CNC'd) along with a 226/230 EPS cam that has 600-ish lift.

Agreed! OP, if you are looking for an L92/LS3 topend, I would suggest our PRC LS3 Heads paired with our 229/236 Cam. This should easily net you the power you are looking for.
