i also removed the air pump today. there was a hose coming off of the pump itself that went to this valve and then to the air tubes and a vacuum line. anyone know the name of this valve?

I am not familiar with vettes but there my guess would a charcoal canister. To help clarify a few things the charcoal canister is installed on every vehicle no matter where it is made or sold. It is part of the evap system on that car, the charcoal canister is where the gas tank vents its gasses into. The EPA doesn’t want the fumes from the gas tank escaping into the air so they have it vent into the charcoal canister. They have been doing this on cars for over 20 years now so it’s nothing new. The charcoal will absorb the fumes from the gas tank and when the charcoal becomes 100% saturated with fumes it will purge the fumes into the intake to be re burned in the engine.
