Default LQ4, ported 241 heads, TR224/230 111. Head milling questions.

First i was wondering if there is a good way to find out if a set of heads have been milled? I have a set of ported 241's with 2.02/1.60 valves but don't know if they have been milled.

Second, how much should i mill them? I am guessing with the dished piston ptv clearance is less of an issue but i don't know for sure. Also, how much can I mill them before I run into intake alignment problems? I already have a set of TR hardened pushrods, 7.400 I think is the length, im guessing if I mill the heads those won't work?

Thanks!

Measure from the valve cover flange to the head surface. That will give you an idea. Also, anything north of .050 mill usually can get you into intake fitment issues. Milling them .030 will give you a decent bump in SCR and still be PTV freindly. Shorter pushrods will probably be in order also.

Thanks. Have any idea what measurement I should get when I go from valve cover rail to the head surface? Yeah, I was guessing I would have to order some new pushrods.

I measured my heads, 4.745 and 4.750 is what I got. Were you saying 4.730-4.735 should be stock, unmilled or after being milled?

My bad, that was a minimal spec I gave you from GM. I just measured a #241 stock head and came up with 4.752-4.748 range.

I ended up using stock 317 heads milled .040. Ended up making 392 hp to the wheels.
