Default So after totaling total cost for a 799 head swap I've decided...

it's to much just to throw on a set of stockers unported, so I will save the extra coin and get these suckers ported. My next question is who does really good porting at a very good price. I was kind of eyeballing AI but it could be some time before I save that kind of coin to get the 226cc port job. Any opinions anyone? After whoever I decide for with ya'lls help I will leave everything the same that I have in my current mods except injectors if needed and I will more than likely have PAT G tune my ride as he tuned my G8 and was very happy with the services and outcome. I want to see what kind of hp can be had with this torquer II on a budget build.

I am partial to PRC because they specialize in LSx motors. This would lead me to believe that there is a good possibility that they have had more track and dyno time with their LSx products. Obviously this is speculation but it seems like a reasonable observation without some other hard numbers that can go head-to-head & apples-to-apples, if you know what I mean.

If you're looking to get every last drop of power out of those heads, AI is the choice you should make.

Have you looked into Total Engine Airflow, aka TEA ??
I've read and heard many good things about their products.

I really like AI but it's gonna take me some time to save to get the best port job, I wish I could find a link to their flow numbers. All I need is good flow to .600 of lift anything over that is overkill. I'll keep my options open based flow numbers, prices and different options from different companies based on input I receive from you guys' experience.

Flow numbers dont mean much in the real world. There are so many things that can skew flow numbers. AI Performs well on the dyno and a the track. PRC is a good company, But I see numbers vary too much between similar set ups.

If your on a tight budget get a vj/bowl work and call it a day. Around 80% of a heads potential is within 2 inches of the valve

Yeah good point but looking at the images of ported heads and chamber work done, the chambers look so damn beautiful. I know I'm weird. haha.

If you just clean up the ports yourself you will only be leaving leaving minimal hp on ths table...you can eazily make 400-420 without getting the big money cnc ported heads...im makin 400 at the wheels with cleaned up 243s, 228/230 cam and boltons.

This is where sacrifices come in...

You can get a budget port job and leave HP on the table, or ship them to AI for $900 and get every last drop.

I was lucky enough to get some help and between me and a friend did mine for basically free. Not going to perform as well but I saved a lot.
