Street cam any size you want...I had a 231/237 589589 or something like that in my old z ...95% of the time everybody I raced had a bigger cam then me. I always won lol my cams range started at very low rpm, there's didn't really get rolling good until 3000-3700 rpm. Bigger isn't better ... all this is even more important in automatics. Get a pat g cam or a tr224 or si5
Not that you couldn't go buy a ms4 or trex and have somebody put a good tune on it but it just seams like there is alot more potential with medium sized cams for street cars imo

I have seen "street" cams so big, they wouldn't idle below 1500 rpm, constantly loaded up, needed 5000 k converters and spent more time tuning than driving..

But yes, you can drive them on the street!!

i think almost any cam is "streetable" as long as you have the supporting mods to go with it (gears, stall, etc). just don't throw an MS4 or something comparable in there with stock gears and expect to make any power down low.

Yea... Donkey dick cams get an extra 30Rwhp on the track but lose 55Rwhp on the street, thats why huge cam cars are slow on the street.

All depends on what you want. Big cam cars are just as fast on the street as the track, just depends on if you have the ***** to go the distance required.
My old Ms4 car was a 100% daily driver and every other H/C street car I ran got raped.

With that said... Something around a 228R (or similar) works great. That cam will net you mid 11s in a full weight car with the right combo, sound good, still retain decent mpg, easy to tune, doesn't require 6500+RPMs, 410s 4400 converter FAST etc etc is not mandatory to make a good combo.

Bigger is not always better. You need to figure out what you want to do with the car and choose accordingly.

I agree 100%. Was your old MS4 an A4 or M6, and what gear/stall setup were you running out of curiosity?

Mine is a 226/228 .588 .588 114, awesome DD cam. With a budget friendly/street friendly combo in a 3450# RW 2200+DA with a nitrous tune I was running 7.31-7.34s @ 94+mph barely spinning out of the hole.
Drove and idled perfect.. Shifted around 6200.. Ran ls6 intake/373s/full exhaust/etc..

4400-ish Vig converter
410s
26" tire
LTs Xpipe 1 chambers before axle
Ported 90/90 setup (FAST 92 came out months after I bought it, this has been a while)
3200ish RW

It ran 7.2s@97mph mid 1.6 60' (stock suspension spinning its *** off).. No tune for the heads 2000+DA.
It was running 7.5s before putting heads on/taking weight out cutting mid 1.5s dead hooking. Added the heads (no retune) and took weight out and cut a .1 slower 60' but picked up .3 spinning my *** off. Car easily had 6.XX@98+ in it with some suspension and a tune the way it sat.. Few more mods (chrs1313/1 7/8 headers/EWP blah blah blah) and 6.5-6.6s@100+mph would be easily attainable. And still drive the car every single day.

One of my best friends ran the f13 in his car.. Was a strong car for another budget setup. Amazing mid range with the 5.3 2.5 heads but lacked top end compared to my car.. I also had quite a bit more down low compared to his 373s/3600 converter setup.

I have this custom cam I had done, Makes 440+ on stock heads. Drives just as good as the streetsweeper I had before, the never surges or bucks. Makes more power then trex, that made the most power. And drove bad, surges and bucks and low rpms.
Did you ever come off of the specs for that cam?

I love my Ms3 and I'm running stock 342's and runs great. Highway runs are super fun too.

First of all why would anybody want "The biggest streetable cam"??? Sounds like somebody just wants to get into a "dick size" contest to me.

I wish mods would just lock these kind of threads....

Yeah but I could live with "what mods do I need to make my rough starting no idling surging noisy valvetrain spring eating pushing through the brakes cam streetable" because at least I would know then they at least searched "Donkey Dick cam" first...
