Default Typhoon vs ls6 Looking at a cam package

I was talking to Aron at TS and pretty much decided on a 224/224 cam 112lsa .581 lift I think package with the pac 1218 behive springs, trunion kit. My car has 43000 miles so I'm thiinking I'm ok with the chain and Oil Pump

Now I was thinking of buying a used LS6 intake hoping to get one for 300 bucks but from what I see the Typhoon seems to outperform it and is around 500 bucks new.

I've seen threads of people liking it and some less what do you guys think and is my ls1 Intake a piece of garbage

Oh my set up Yank SS3200, LID with free mods, cat back Flowmaster and 3:42 gears Dynoed at 318.54 rwhp a 329 ftlbs torque runs 12.7 at 108.54mph"gotta love that Yank :-)"
Kook headers and custom y pipe not yet installed........

I'm hoping to get to the 365 to 390hp area with this new set up

I am not going to change the heads my car is a fun street car looking for a bit more fun and Tuesday fun night racing thats it :-)

I've always heard LS6 or FAST and that the typhoon is a heat sink. Personally I would run a LS6. I would also get rid of that Flowmaster catback, they're restrictive. I had a Flowmaster on my car and just replaced the muffler with a Hooker.

Id look around for a used typhoon, if you can get it for around the price of an LS6 get it, will outperform the LS6 up top and lose nothing down low. Heat soak is a myth, remember the air coming in goes into metal heads and a metal engine.

I might do that for the Flowmaster but I'm running at 318.54rwhp my buddy has slp and runs at 303.8rwhp same set up not sure about how mmuch gain I would get 1-2 hp if its noticeable I will change that in a hearth beat I do like the sound now but with the KOOK headers going in that might change

get the cheapest between LS6 and Typhoon..similar results with both. The thing is that you can run a bigger TB with the Typhoon, which might be why you get more hp outta of it..

Just get a good quality spring and ive seen more broken springs on large lift cams way more often then small 224 cams you should be fine. I've seen ls6 intakes handle large rwhp much larger than your desired hp. Heat soak is pracrltically a myth but it is there but not enough to make a sotp difference. Edelbrock did not get famous from plastic intakes.

Default Thanks guys

I want a cam almost as much as I want a beer on Friday night loll ok more than a beer on Friday night :-) If I get a typhoon 96mm I will need a new ThrOttle body right???

I am not interested in changing my heads and changing my intake well I'm debating if I should do that 1st then change my cam later money is not something I produce in my garage lolll

I have enough to buy the cam package and gasket kit as well as the trunion upgrade but not enough for the labour or intake yet. Bought a set of Kooks at a great deal

I am also debating on oil pump and ls2 chain The valve springs recommended are the pac 1218 behive I wanted to go with the 1518 or the dual but I was told that was overkill by Texas Speed. I will only rev her up on shift points at 62 or 6300rpm at the most.

My next proplem is the 10 bolt!!!

96mm is overkill, look for a used 85...im sure there's a ton out there lol....as long as you don't drag the car the 10 should hold up....im in the same predicament....

Default Kust found one local yes

I just found an ls6 intake with injectors fuel rails and ls6 TB for 300 bucks locally off a 2002 Corvette
Is the TB any better than my ls1 and its missing sensors whatever that is ????

I would definitely recommend picking up a used ls6 intake to complement your setup, and be easy on the budget. Like I told you on the phone, I believe the low mileage benefits you if you were to want to pass on replacing the chain and pump if everything looks and works correctly at the time of removal, but if there is any question in your mind then replace them both. Its a rather small investment to make sure you don't have any issues down the road. The 224R is a great choice for what you were wanting to get out a setup, and the PAC 1218s are super reliable, and won't have any trouble handling this camshaft.

No the TB is no better....

Do this and sell the injectors, rails and TB and cut your net cost. The sensors would be the TPS and IAC.
