Default EPS 222/226 Vs TR224

I'm finally looking to do a cam swap again in my SS.. I'm looking at these two Cams the EPS 222/226 and the TR224. I do not want to much of a aggressive Cam as this is my Daily driver. Looks like anyone of these two CAMs fit the bill. Just wanted some input if any of you guys are running one of the two or have ran them in the past. Pros and Cons etc. Thanks for any input.

Well, my EPS 226/230 cam picked up 40rwhp over my old Comp Cam 224. It's very drivable, idles well, no issues.

I went from a comp 222/224 to a EPS/LXL 226/234. There was not much difference. About .05 ET and .5 MPH in the 1/8 mile. This is roughly 5 HP difference between a slightly smaller comp cam and the EPS cam.

^ If all mods were the same with each of those two cams, 40rwhp seems a little extreme.

Nothing changed mod wise. Same tuner and dyno for both cams. My car is very exhaust restricted due to space the headers I have to run which may play a large part in my results, but it literally was a 40rwhp jump.

Both cam will do the trick personal preference IMO. Proven cam=TR224, new design=EPS.. Cant go wrong with both.

Flip a coin, they're both good. I personally would go EPS due to its updated lobe design, but you can't go wrong with either.

Exactly, or do an EPS intake lobe and an LXL on the exhaust to quiet down the valvetrain noise a little.

This is what I would do and that reason is why.

My old Comp 230/224 XE lobed cam had very loud sewing machine sounds, the new EPS/LXL combo is dead silent.

I dunno about dead silent... This is the first cam I have ever put in so I have nothing to compare it to, but its certainly not dead silent.

Hell I even thought the valve noise after installign the 1 7/8" ARH system was loud. I thought I had an exhaust leak for the longest time.

Continuing the sewing machine topic....my Torqer 2 on XER lobes was brutal, broke an 8k mile valvespring and brought sewing machine noise to a whole new level compared to other cammed cars I've heard. My PatG/EPS specd 227/235 on LSL was dead silent. I loved it, and it had a ton more power under the curve.

With the old Comp cam I could hear the clicks and ticks over the exhaust (3" duals dumped) if I was standing in front of the doors on either side of the car. With the hood open all you heard was "click click tick click tick"...literally had to walk around the car to hear the exhaust.

Now its no more noisy than my bone stock 5.3 Silverado. Just typical LS noises.
