Being that it is a 98 it is and it just started out of nowhere that is entirely possible... Check with a manual gauge and go from there IMO..

Did you check the oil level?

Check the oil pressure with a gauge. How many miles on it? 20 psi is acceptable and with in specs. If you have good pressure with a manual Gauge then change your oil switch.

when i first bought my car it would idle at 35-40psi hot all the time, then one day it just dropped to 20psi, i immediately changed the oil and found a fram filter on there. i cut the filter open (as i always do on my oil changes) and found the paper POS filter to be collapsed and folded all up inside. got the car started back up with Mobile 1 (this was about 5-6 years ago when they were still good) and a new filter, and the psi was back up to 40psi hot idle
