Default EPS cam vs. TSP cam

So im ready to order my cam.

Two cams ive been looking at are TSP's 233/239 112LSA cam or EPS 234/246 111LSA, but am open to suggestions.

I like the TSP cam a great deal and it fits the bill for what im doing. Looking for 425-450RWHP all motor. Using milled 317 heads(will check PTV clearance) or some ported 243 heads. Either head I use will be home ported most likely with a valve job and as much compression as I can get without running into clearance problems.

What I like about the EPS cam is that its not as harsh on the valve train due to the lobe design. The cam I have listed above is just an example of a cam I saw on the site that looked about right for what im doing. As stated above im open to suggestion on cam.

My question is whether or not I would lose any power by using an EPS cam over the TSP. any suggestions or comments would be appreciated.

I have the EPS 234/246 and though it Dyno'd low through a large stall converter, 15 psi drag radials and a TH400, the track ET and MPH put the car at well over 400 Rwhp as per the Wallace Racing Calculator. (Even though my car doesn't have a 1st gear when it made those times.)

I would call Geoff and he also has a group purchase right now. I also have the EPS 234/246 cam there is a sound clip of it in the Multi media section if interested. But I bet that eps cam vs the TSP one you stated above the EPS would make more power. But what are your goals for your car?

Why the big split on the EPS cam?

I think imo it helps it in the upper rpms (Breath) and produce power. I would say its a max effort kinda cam.

My goals for the car are 425 plus HP. Using 317 or 243 ported heads. Wanna see low 11's in the 1/4 mile. Car has to be daily driveable as well but I don't have a problem with a really noticeable idle and I do prefer it.

I have no complaints about my EPS cam. Makes good power across the board and runs very well. There are so many options out there, can't really go wrong with any of vendors on here.

Eps makes great cams but the split duration has been a pain to tune. It doesn't idle very well and dies quite a bit. Still working on tuning issues but overall great customer service and a nice guy.

Are you eventually going to boost it? I see an iron block and 317 heads...looks suspicious

Who is doing your tune? I have that same exact cam and the tuning was a piece of cake. A 226/230 is a mild cam and there should really be no reason why you are having tuning issues...unless your tuner doesn't know what he is doing. Mine Idles perfect and never once has mine died.

EDIT: I just noticed you have a A4. Those are always fun when it comes to tuning.

No boost. I just got a set of 317s dirt cheap and did some nice port work on them and am getting valve job as well. I was going to be putting these heads milled on my ls1 until I found a 6.0 shortblock at reasonable price. so thats the combo im going with. im still gonna check PTV clearance and mill as much as I can to get compression back up

I Would call Geoff because I was going to run 317's milled and iirc the cam your looking at 234/246 will have PTV issue's.
