Default Timing chain

I have a brand new gm ls1 with 5k miles in my trans am that I'm putting a 228r Texas speed cam in, should i swap my timing chain when I do my swap?

With only 5,000 miles on it I would use the chain that's in it.

Reguardless of the mileage, upgrade the timing chain to a LS2 or a C5R since you will already be in there. Cheap insurance.

+1. The LS2 or C5R would be more than enough for that 228R cam and more stout over the LS1 chain.

Ls2 is a must. I compared the 2 and the ls2 is way beefier. Cheap insurance. If you lift the heads, get ls2 lifter trays too.

So will the chain be ok on my ls1 sprockets? Same everything right? Just a beefier construction?

I used a ls2 chain on my stock ls1 sprockets. And all has been fine the past 15k miles.

Yea grab an ls2 chain bc it's super cheap insurance (<$40)
